Not digging the Z. Honestly, it looks the same body with different heads and tails. Still no regrets with my MK5 after seeing the c8 and now this lol!

The 400z looks horrible in yellow. But some of the other colors like silver or black. Makes it look completely different.

They do look very similar, but I think only body panels that carried over are the a-pillars and roof panel.

Personally, I think it only looks better in those two photos because there are some shadows on the front giving it at least some contrast and not making it look like a splash of yellow.

Even the rendering in @vh_supra26 post of the yellow looks moderately better with the shadowing.

In the end, they keep calling this "Proto" so does that mean it is far off from the production car?

Huh? Glasses time? the transformation is still hell of a lot bigger than what toyota/subaru are doing for 2nd generation twins. 400z looks good and it don't look like a 370z just because they share same wheelbase and proportions..

Sorry, but it looks almost identical to the 370Z to me with a few flattened angles on it.

I guess I was hoping for more 240Z and less current Z. Then, I always thought the 86 looked more like a modern 240Z then a modern AE86.

To me to only things that screams 370z are:

exterior: a-pillars and roofline
interior: random pieces here and there.

i'm not sure what is really "identical".. you're talking about the profile which sure, looks 370z-like but the 370z has always looked frumpy to me, this 400z not so much...the headlights are lower, less bulbous rear end, fenders/rear quarter look slimmer and not as exaggerated, window line doesn't have as much of an awkward inward kink towards the rear quarter windows, long body lines instead of smooth and round, etc.. it is a sweet design using the same proportions and wheelbase (much like the new twins or new lexus IS but much more radical of a design language difference than those 2), nothing wrong with that. saying it looks identical to the 370z is a bit criminal.. either way, 400z comes closer to looking like a modern 240z than either 86 (too short of a hood and too long from the door to the rear end) or 370z (too frumpy & wide looking mainly due to those exaggerated hips and fenders..)

Well, there you go. Look its just my opinion, and when I see them isolated in profile view, if it weren't for the headlights I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. They are both too "thick" and the window line is too high. It's just not an attractive car to me, but I was never going to buy one anyway so it doesnt matter.

As I've said before, I swore off Nissan in the mid 80's when they designed and then never brought to market the MID4. After that, they were lost to me.

The whole thing from the blank sections either side of the grill to the flush door handles screams "ELECTRIC CAR" plain to me.

Mind you the fake vents on the Supra and the art deco real vents and hockey sticks on the new BRZ go to far in the other direction for me so I guess I am just too picky for the modern styles.

i get it is your opinion, just think using "identical" is a bit harsh to nissan. do you think the new twins or new Lexus IS look identical to their previous designs? think we can both agree that out of those three heavy refreshes, nissan's features the biggest changes exterior + (hypothetical) powertrain + interior.

its not just slow selling niche products, the new Frontier still uses the F-Alpha platform.
