Boosting a used car/car already out of warranty is one thing, but buying a brand new car to boost, and tearing up your factory warranty right away, is something only the very bold do. Most of us buying new cars like to enjoy the benefits of paying new car prices, including reliability backed by a new car warranty.

Of course, tuning shops and race teams don’t mind, and will happily boost and mod a brand new car. Private buyers using their own hard earned money, especially if they aren’t wealthy (if they are, why not just buy a faster stock car like a Cayman or Corvette?), are generally more cautious with their mods.

I noticed that too. It partly explains the changed shape of the rear side windows, which have developed a shorter ‘Hoffmeister kink’ instead of the 1st gen’s teardrop, as a result perhaps of that higher belt line. Bit of a shame, the nice wide side windows and visibility were an advantage of the 1st gen, compared to things like the Camaro with its narrow windows and more limited visibility. The increase in metal/decrease in glass area probably improves strength and side impact resistance however.

I’m loving the hofmeister kink, as I’ve been lamenting BMW’s abandonment of their design language.

The belt line looks reasonable still, not like the camaro. The door to glass ratio reminds me of the MK1 Audi TT.

It ocurred to me that if the beltline wasn't raised a few inches and if the hood is actually lower at the base of the windshield, they might use pyrotechnic cylinders for the hood to clear the windshield, like in the new MX-5. I'm guessing it's a visual trick done with adjusted beltline and slightly adjusted hood cowling, though.
Wait 'till countries with large displacement tax discover they're getting the 2.0 boxer carried over. Maybe even Japan! (They'd get something better for JDM anyway, like the 2.0L STI high revving motor for Japan, vs bigger displacement for NA.
I'd be shocked if Eyesight was standard, unless maybe for automatic upgraded package only.
If the car is renewed, there will be renewed interest. If they change it too much they'll kill a winning formula at an amazing price point vs. anything remotely comparable.

Personally, I wouldn't get excited over another Z car. They've been fugly every generation after the 240. Plus, there might not even be a Nissan eventually.

I kind of thought so too but the more I look at it, it just looks like there's extra camo on the glass and trim to me.

The mirror connection to the door is kind of the lower limit there. I think that's actually a bit higher too, but

I love all of the speculation! I'm most excited to see what parts are a direct swap/upgrade. Maybe a different ratio diff? Maybe the seats will be a direct swap? Maybe the heads will be a direct swap and you can do a hybrid build.

Speculation is one of the most enjoyable aspects of cars for me. Will be a shame when it releases and all my hopes are sunk. Here's to hoping it's not a 2wd Impreza

I wonder if a Coyote 5.0 would fit?

They go like stink and sound wicked.

One thing I really love about the outgoing model is when you look in the side mirrors and see them hips. Now, they're no 911 hips, but it's just a very strong line both head on and from the profile.

If you draw a construction line on both, the new model seems to lose that and if you look at the renders from bestcar, they've actually broken up that surface and there is an additional line just below the c-pillar.

This is just my personal opinion, but I'm happy to see that they got rid of the butt ugly triangular form in the 4th brake light for a more trapezoidal element. I really don't have much to nitpick about my 2017 other than that crab/owl face that I always see when I look at the rear of the car.

Still excited to see the reveal though. I've been lurking here in the background for a few years and now I finally decide to join in on the fun when there's a new model on the horizon haha.

Nice to meet you all!
