Angry clutch bearing issue

Hi
First off forgive me for not compleatly understanding posting a Q

My 2013 FRS has 63000 miles I had just taken it to dealer for fluids and check up , I drove a few hundred miles then noticed an odd sound from depressing the clutch. Today I took it to my mechanic who ownes a BRZ and he said its a throw out bearing , also he noted the clutch was adjusted too tight ( which could only of been done at the factory or dealer ) which he believes could of caused this issue. So now im looking at 7 hour repair to place a $ 25 part. I called toyota and they denied any known issue. I do not ride the clutch.
Does any one else know about this ?
Thanks
Jeff

The throwout bearing is a somewhat common problem on this car. One theory is that the shift fork flexes, causing premature wear and failure of the bearing. To fix this, Velox has made a nifty billet aluminum shift fork, and the responses from users are very positive.

My understanding is that the sound (if it's kinda like a squeak) is from lubricant or rubber seal getting rubbed off on the clutch pedal assembly or something - it shouldn't be the throw out bearing.

Pretty sure this is covered somewhere on the forum, and I think the member fixed it by applying grease to the fork or something like that. A design flaw, but not one which should cause mechanical issues. Mine had this at 72,000km, and I don't ride the clutch or do any silly things with it.

EDIT: Here you go

Is the sound subtle or life disrupting?

If it's subtle then I'd leave it, most throwout bearings make noise as they age, especially if they're on the cheap end. You're out of powertrain warranty so I wouldn't expect Toyota to do anything for you, but it is a known issue. Leave it until the noise becomes more present and worrying. Throwout bearings rarely fail catastrophically, if yours was suspect it probably would have given out long ago.

That's just what showed up in the first 4 google results, there's dozens more posts about it.

Edit: As above, squeaky pedal is a lack of lubrication, proper lubrication may involve the same amount of labor as replacing the throwout bearing requiring removal of the tranny.

7 hours is kind of a lot for a transmission removal from a professional shop, but it's not totally out of the ordinary.

I would suggest that you find the instructions on the forum for lubricating the clutch fork and take them to your BRZ mechanic friend and ask him to do the lubrication.......... you might get lucky and that will "fix" it.
