Only 10,872 more threads to check!
Would have been easy if it was a topic of it's own but it has to be in the middle of something else.

to add lock to brz glove box you need to swap handles with a 2008-2011 impreza black glove box, split open the glove box and remove the handles by removing 2 screws and be careful removing the striker arms from the bracket guides. to remove the striker arms you need to push in and twist until they pop out. then swap the handle with the original glove box. you will need to take lock cylinder to a locksmith to get a key made if one isnt available. you use the original striker arms with the lock handle. good luck!

i ran into a problem separating the striker arms from the handle bracket, the striker arms have a spring that allow them to recess so the glove box will open and close. i need to figure out how to get them apart so i can replace the bracket. the striker arm has two pieces the long arm and the spring head that attaches to the bracket. i need to separate the spring head from the arm so i can swap the handle bracket, once this is done adding the lock will be completed. i will post a completed glove box picture when this is done.

This seems to be the most developed discussion about modding a lock for the glove box. So only a 2008-2011 Impreza glove box handle will work?
@tim35ct where are the pics, man?

Why do you need a locked glove box?
Because that is the only readily accessible place in this car to securely store a firearm.

And sometimes you may want to lock that up in the presence of curious children. Also useful as a deterrent to thieves. Most will not take the time to break open a locked glovebox once they realize the car is a MT and they can't drive it anyway.

I can think of one. Depending on circumstances, if you're ever carrying anything "illicit", authorities would require a search warrant to get in a locked glovebox.

It doesn't have to be illicit.
It can be any private property that the police (especially ones involved in all these non-constitutional traffic stops lately) have no business seeing or messing with.
