Inspection of New FR-S
Hey All!
I ordered a new FR-S in late January, and should be at the dealer ready for pick-up around early to mid April. My question is: What should I look for on my inspection before driving it off the lot? Is there anything specific I should be looking for with these cars (or any new vehicle in general) or questions I should be asking? I know there will be a lot of excitement, but I want to be sure that I don't overlook anything at the time of inspection that may give me a headache later on. Any feedback would be helpful! Thanks! |

You certainly must... and I can't stress this enough... make sure its sitting on 4 wheels.
All joking aside, nothing you wouldn't be mindful of on any car. Make sure its got exactly what you ordered, look for smaller things you DIDN'T order (extra mats, clear-bra etc), and look for any known common issues like tail light inner condensation, maybe paint chips/swirls (you're almost guaranteed swirls if they washed it) etc. That's really about it. Certainly want to remember how it sounds the day you drive it off the lot. No music. Try to use that as a baseline for anything that crops up later. Oh yeah, and if it has a Bespoke in it, bodyslam the salesperson to the concrete until they replace it. |

Those are pretty good rules too, but aren't dealbreakers in my book since you can easily pull it under a bright light to check and carry a flashlight. Most places would gladly oblige you.

- rips and tears in seat
- car was filled with premium. NOT regular. - locking lug key included - tie down hole is plugged properly - scratches on door sills - scratches on inner lower door panel - removal of dealer decals (if you care) - proper tires that you want (either the Michelin Primacy, or the Bridgestones. I'm not gonna suggest which ones better, its personal preference) |

^what they all said... But I like the bespoke system. Dont use the Navi, but for music, and bluetooth connectivity, it's not that bad imo

I would suggest telling them not to wash your car. Rest assure if they do they'll use a brush.

Per CrazyWookie above:
- tie down hole is plugged properly http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=42 The gromets should either be installed or in the glovebox. Otherwise you will have to buy them online like I did. |

If by any chance your car is white, ask them if they eliminated the rail dust. If they didn't you will start to notice small little rust spots all over your car when the dust turns to rust. It happens to all cars that are transported on open rail road cars. It's just that it really isn't noticeable except on white cars. If they said they had not, insist they do. All dealerships are aware of this problem and all have a mild chemical wash that is not harmful to the car finish but will eliminate the problem. Insist they take care of it.
