I have always been a fan of nissan, 300zx (z32) is one of my dream cars that I will own one day, But i really cant see then pulling the v6 out of the Z platform, maybe lighter and a smaller v6 with a turbo or tt setup. They have been talking about bringing back the sx platform for years and always said that the market wasn't ready for it, if they are talking about turbo 4's I would think it is for a new sx, which would be awesome! even if its a car you hate, be it a honda, nissan, toyota ect ect, the more small performance oriented cars that come out the better because that just means we continue to get better cars by the companies trying to one up each other

No, they should get away from going +2.5L and big engines. Maximum size they should go is 2.2L... hell they could make 1.6 turbo pushing 200hp without problem and get decent MPG, so why not do it? 1.6~2.2L I4 pushing 200~265hp curb weight around 2,680~2,850LBS.

If Nissan call me to tell me what car they should make, I'll tell em "first thing they should do is throw out the V-engine and 2. whatever liter engine out of the window and think light... IF they're not making next Z"

Z should keep 6 cylinder, lightweight, & affordable... just like old 240Z was

A 2.2L will be weak on torque. I can understand a 2.2L if the weight is around 22-2300 lbs but at 2800-2900 lbs it is too much weight for the engine. One of the key things Z owners love about daily driving the 3.7L is the fact that it doesn't feel weak below 4-5k rpms. That should never change period.

Again, I'm not saying next Z should be 1.6~2.2L turbo. I already lost a hope on Z. I don't care if they put GT-R engine there for all I care. They're already wasting a TQ & can't even use in daily life.

I said, they need to bring back new Silvia or SX series w 1.6~2.2 liter turbo RWD lightweight affordable car

Edit: If you think 2.2 liter turbo car don't have any TQ, then you haven't driven real 2.2 liter turbo cars.

I have owned a couple 240's and was looking for another one as a project until i drove the FR-S. I actually work at a Nissan dealership and could've got a 370z but with the sport package they get a little pricey so i got the FR-S instead. No regrets here but if Nissan comes out with a 240 replacement with the Juke 1.6 Turbo and no CVT trans it will be interesting.

First they loose the affordable and next was lightweight... now 6 cylinder?
Weren't the old Datsun roadster's 'Fairladies'? They were 4 bangers, small and light, too. Only when they added the 'Z' to it they became L6's.

Yes, you're correct. Its like Celica & Supra concept. They first called Datsun Sports. Later down the road, it was called it Fairlady.

yeah but they were also built on truck chassis. guess that doesnt matter but figured it was worth mentioning. bmw had a much more iconic 6 and they dumped that. i just find that the existence of the silvia makes it a little different situation

the 370 is considerably more..

I would be curious to witness the 'end of the world' reactions from M3 people if it went back to an NA four cyl again. Heh...

I have to agree that a 4 cylinder will ruin the Z whether it be N/A or F/I. Lotus understands what curb weight type cars a 4 cylinder belongs in. Their philosophy I always liked.
