Geez. It's a simple fix that the dealership should take care of. But go ahead, antagonize the other party before you even start a business transaction, best way to go about getting "service" for your problem.

I agree with you that some people take it too far with their anti-dealership rants but I used the language in jest (which doesn't translate well on the internet), so it's all good...

I ended up letting the dealership know, the light has been off ever since Day 2 so they claimed there was nothing they can do - but at least it's on record that I had an "issue" and complained...

---

One other question (unrelated) and a few more to come:

1. Has anybody tried the following method (steamer) for tint removal?

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9vzJDUM5Ag"]Easy Way to Remove Automotive Window Tint - YouTube[/ame]

I'm debating between this, the more traditional razor blade - solution method and / or taking it to some local place that does tints.

I see the PC Police are in this thread as well...lol

Many dealerships have earned their negative reps because they are stealerships and liars out to screw you out of every last dollar, and once you've made your purchase, the customer service you receive often changes

The dealership is responsible for this issue...you're just going to let them skate responsibility?

I agree to that to a certain extent. My experience with the dealership itself is an amazing one. Almost everyone who works there drives an FRS, and generally knows their stuff about the car. My salesman, @jamies31 was and still is absolutely awesome and has gone out of his way to personally take care of stuff for me (like washing my car, instead of the techs doing it after some suspension work, removing rail dust, free of charge which was awesome). It's the service department I have to deal with at the Toyota side of things that gives me a real headache. After my latest experience with them, I'm changing dealerships for future service appointments.

IMHO get it done professionally by a tint shop.

I don't mind going back and arguing, but what would you suggest I have them do / check?

I have attached a partial picture of the engine bay for those who were asking. Also the exhaust is aftermarket, looks like some kind of burnt tipped ARK exhaust that I've seen a handful of others with based on the pics posted here...

Are there any downsides (potential screwups that could have a lasting effect) to doing it yourself though?

I haven't come across any, other than that you possibly only remove 1 layer of the tint and then have to spent an eternity scraping off the remaining residue... Decisions, decisions, the tints really do look nice but being in NJ I know it's a matter of when not if I get pulled for them

That's certainly not the stock header.... depending on your state's emissions/exhaust noise laws, that modification could be a big deal if you are pulled over.

Edit: New Jersey is one of those states.

From what I remember removing tints was a PITA. If you have the patience then by all means DIY.

That is an aftermarket header, with what looks to be a catalytic convertor. It looks like a P&L equal length header with cat to me, but I'm no expert.

You may be getting the catalyst efficiency code due to the aftermarket cat

You can't help but wonder if they reset the code to get it to pass inspection. I would definitely take it back to them.

Hair dryer or hot air paint stripper on low. Get it hot enough then there shouldn't be much residue. Done it a couple of times with zero issues.

Yeah... I think I'm going to give it a go, at least on the side driver and passenger windows, will probably leave the rest on unless it looks really fugly (in which case I'll likely get someone else to remove the rear window tint)...

One other question (for now!)... Can anyone help me identify the lights in the attachments?

They're the ones I currently have installed but I'm contemplating swapping them out for the standard / OEM lights in the link below as I think I've gotten a few flashing lights from oncoming drivers which is making me uneasy / paranoid that I may be obscuring the vision of other drivers...

A head-on picture of the headlights would make identification easier...but those look stock to me.
