Breaking. NBC News confirms: The CDC will announce that Americans who are fully vaccinated against COVID no longer need to wear masks or physically distance, indoors or outdoors in almost all circumstances.

Honestly I'll probably still keep a mask on me and wear it in areas that are enclosed spaces without much ventilation.

Yep, being reported all around https://www.foxnews.com/health/cdc-t...indoors-report

I just had this discussion at work this week. As I had been in our building pretty much the entire COVID period I took on the roll of "mask police". As people got vaccinated and started coming back into the office it became a losing battle, even though corporate policy hadn't changed. Last Management meeting I threw in the towel and said unless everyone was going to back me up I give. We decided we would enforce only if someone complained. Our building is about 90% vaccinated.

Oh I'll throw my mask as that smug anti-masker.

Jk, depending where I'm at, I'll probably still wear one too

Yeah, it was only a matter of time before people pushed for that.

Even now it's tricky to know who's vaccinated or not.

But not much can be done.

Maybe now it's time to start wearing N95 masks to protect yourselves in certain circumstances. That would be weird but hey Brazil has got new strains more than you can count on your fingers and almost toes so I wouldn't be overly complacent things happen when you a) don't expect it or b) become complacent. I know, I'm no fun at all.

Ok, I gotta ask this because it's a very vague thing and I'm kinda seeing it as more of fear mongering or scare tactic (not blaming you). Are the Brazilian variants a) more virulent? b) have a higher mortality? c) what differences are there, if any?

I say it that way because I keep seeing things like "California variant" or "New York variant" or X variant. Have there been studies to determine the lethality or virulence of them? If so, it would be neat to read more data on the various strains. I believe I've read somewhere that one of the Brazilian strains IS more deadly/virulent.

Not sure regards to virulence, it's the potential resistance to current vaccines that would be of concern. I won't be spitting in people's faces for a long time. Funny, my 13 year old who wears headgear at night tends to spray it when he says it lol.
Not fear mongering. Suggesting that a full on mosh pit might be the wrong approach, perhaps ease into things. There are people that WILL participate in the reduced but still viable transmission pool (unvaccinated) , so as has been proven, there will continue to be an ongoing pool of potential variants.
Life has changed whether we want to admit it or not.

keep it around. there's going to be a lot of drama, as a lot of big-box stores have now passed store rules that require them. you can bet there's going to be a lot of angry videos soon of stores requiring masks of everyone, and someone opposing it.

honestly, considering the general public's hygiene, it's really not a bad idea to be wearing one anytime when going outside of your domain...

I live in a small town and like feeling incognito. I’m not a fan of awkward isle catch-ups haha the mask can stay

Update 2: chills are back…homemade chicken noodle soup on deck

The mask has also helped keep my spring allergies in check, as well as my snot is no longer brown/black from work (pretty bad dust/dirt in the air). So I may keep wearing a mask even after the mandate disappears from work for that reason. Out in public, maybe not unless the store/building requires it.

Considering you are still not vaccinated I thought you would be one to appreciate people being overly cautious until you were able to get an appointment.
