I've seen mad distortions with aftermarket windshields (not for the twin but other cars) usually near the edges / hoodline.

OEM for windshield IMHO, a bit of a safety thing. Although if the OEM is really terrible as you say... but it still may have some proper standards in place so it will crack but not shatter and break into pieces.

I had one replaced by safelite and it fogs up in the am.
