2022 Subaru BRZ on the Dyno

Tossed the new 22 BRZ on the dyno and it put down some impressive numbers! It's already faster than my modified FRS that's not saying much though

Had a '13 FRS. If you told me that car made 150 hp and 120 ft/lbs of torque, I'd believe you. If you told me the '22 make 250 hp and 200 ft/lbs of torque, I'd believe you lol. Good stuff.

Was that 22 brz tuned or is that just how it came from the factory? Unless, the factory rating is WAY low, I don't see how it could make 215 whp dead stock not tuned.

That's from the factory, untuned, lots of other dynos are netting similar results from the 2nd Gen.

Ralf Youtube: 205/166
Strat_frs shared: 215/177
Apexi Youtube: 209/167
savagegeese Youtube: 209/176
Runduce Youtube: 213/188
Phoenix power Youtube: 217/188
William Knose facebook: 221/174
Eddie Lopez Youtube: 222/176(?)
trippingbillies40: 215/171

The average of above is: 213/174

This just in: engine gains 20% power after 20% displacement bump and no other major changes.

We're most likely seeing a marketing "228 hp" to not cannibalize sales from the 2.0 Supra. I don't see why this engine wouldn't make 100 hp/liter as well. Gen 1 owners don't want to hear it but this gen 2 is so much faster.

Note that I said, unless the reported numbers are well shy of the actual numbers. It wouldn't be the first time that a manufacturer has underreported the power their car makes for reporting purposes.

Hell, there have been times when manufacturers actually DETUNED cars for that purpose, the last gen firebird and that gen camaro come to mind when they outperformed the corvette during testing.

All the better, if they are really generating that much power, even more so if they fixed their quality control on their rods. When swapping this engine, or if the hybrids with short blocks get sorted, it'll be an awesome option.

On the high end, 20% whp would be 204, 205, not 215... that's more like 27%.

Which is almost 30% more of a gain than would be expected. Again, you're looking at actual BHP numbers of like 250-255 with those numbers.

If it was truly a 20% gain, you'd be seeing numbers between 185 and 205, not 200 and 215.
