Have some news ! I installed my bride Zeta iii 's this weekend. Drivers side was previously done a year ago since I just replaced my cusco bride seat w the new red one.

Passenger side I used a resistor from bride which required soldering and also removed the occupancy sensor from the passenger seat and installed it underneath the cloth on the bride since you can remove the center pieces on the zeta iii bucket seat. I'm happy to report everything works like it's from factory. No need for a seat belt insert. No airbag light. Someone sits in it and airbag turns on and when they get off, airbag turns off.

Having an issue with this DIY. bought the right resisters as per thread plugged it in and still light. So i disconnected battery tried another resister connected battery and still have air bag light. Let it be known i tried the resister kit that was being sold from a site mentioned earlier but not the toyota or subaru one. that didn't work. is it possible that plug maybe blew a fuse? thats why light is still on?

apart from mine works fine on the drivers side just not the passengers side and airbag lights stays on. so i am wondering if mine is something to do with he wiring? or could it be to do with a fuse like Liquid said :S

Airbags After Front End Collision?

Hey guys,

So I bought my FRS as a theft recovery vehicle for super cheap, 5,200 miles on it, 2014 model. Its going to be my track car... so I don't want or care about having airbags anyway, so even though the steering wheel airbag deployed, I modded the wheel with an airbagless wheel, replaced the front bumper & hood, no frame damage or anything... so worked out for me!

It has the resister installed on the airbag leads that attach to the clockspring, but I do still have an airbag light.

Going to try to pull the fuse to see if that light will turn off... any suggestions on whether that will work or not? Going to be putting in after market seats sometime soonish too...

Open to suggestions!

does anyone know if a 3.3 ohm 1/4 watt resistor work instead of 3.3 ohm 1 watt? found one at a local radio shack. i dont really want to buy it online since most are in a pack of 10 and 8$+ when i only need one

I am assuming if your doing this DIY you have already figured out how to remove the seats and disconnected the the battery and the wires connected to the seat.

First thing you need is a Resister with a resistance of 3.3 Ohms.
Amazon.com: 3.3 Ohm 1W Flameproof Resistor 10 Pcs.: Electronics

Locate the yellow harness .

You will notice that there are only 2 wires connected to the harness but are 4 holes (sorry the picture doesn't really show it, i'll try to get a better one before Install the seat tomorrow morning), you want to plug the resistor into the bottom two holes.

No it does not matter which side of the resistor you plug into which hole.

See no light

Please let me know if I am unclear on anything as I may have had a few beers before writing this :happy0180:, though this is pretty self explanatory and hard to screw up.

Also I am just going to use electrical tape to secure it for now, later I will find the other end of the connector and solder the resistor to that, and insulate it with shrink wrap.

will a 2watt work?

It's actually pretty simple. You need to have someone who has the "hog clips" and tool to re attach the seat cover after.

Flip the seat over and pull the cover off from the front. There are little white plastic tabs that hold the cover on. Pull those off and then peel back the seat cover. You are trying to expose the top of the seat where your ass goes, lol.

To do that you need to cut two little clips holding the seat cover on. Once those are cut you can see that green and black sensor. It is glued to the foam. You can just work it off with your fingers. Now it goes all the way back and there is a bar that goes across the back of the seat which makes it a pain in the ass but it can be done with just pulling those two clips.

After that it is attached to some wires that run down to the connector. You need to fish it through the bottom of the seat and out.

Once you have the sensor and the connector you just use the resistor as you did on the drivers side and then plug the seat sensor in. We tucked it under the carpet because taking the evo seat cover involved a lot more work.

I plan on having my seats recovered and when they do I am going to have them put the sensor in the recaro seat. It will work just like factory when I do that.

Right now with the sensor folded up and tucked under the carpet the car thinks that there is always someone in the seat and turns the airbag on.

So I get a nanny light and buzzer unless I have the seat belt plugged in.

Oh also just an FYI the seat belt connectors, grey, need to be plugged in too otherwise you get a light.
Thank you for all the information.

Will I be able to restall the seat cover after I took out the sensor?

I got a pair of BRZ limited seats and thinking to swap in to my FRS. People say there will have airbag issue because BRZ heated seats and FRS regular seats have different sensor.

So I am thinking to swap the sensor.

Do you think I will be able to recover the seatcover?

As long as you have some upholstery players to pull the hog clips and the tool to put them on you should have not problem putting the cover back on.

I actually took off the cover on both BRZ and FRS complete sensor set last weekend and swap the seats; however, the swap is not 100% functional. The seatbelt light keep on and it seems like the sensor detect that there is person on the passenger side. I have to put a seat belt plug to turn off the light.

If you know someone with techstream they can turn the alarm for that off. That is what I had done.
