I've never understood the mentality of people who already own these cars to try and devalue them as much as possible by harassing people selling theirs. Sure, some prices are out to lunch such as 40k+ for a run of the mill average miles BRZ.

But if a dealer can ask 25k for a 2014 FRS with 200,000 km, why shouldn't I? Someone seems to be buying these cars. No clue who or why, but *someone* is.

Not selling orange car, but I'm toying with the idea of selling the BRZ. I'm not opposed to ruining my mental health and driveway with another blobeye WRX/STI.

You need to read my thread Stealership Stories and add these questions to it.
I agree, if Black Book is $30,000 for an average car and Blue Book is $33,000 - $34,500 how can dealer's justify $38,000 - $40,000 retail. Better yet, only offer $24,000 as a trade-in?
(See photos from my local Toyota dealer in the 2nd Gen section.)

I did read that thread as it was unfolding and the whole dealer system sucks. I am not in a position to change the system.

I had a similar experience to yours. End of last year I reached out to several dealers of Korean cars, and all had bs 'packages' that were mandatory and ranged from $1200 to $10000 for junk. All I wanted was a base model econobox with a manual transmission. But that didn't matter, any car they sold got that nonsense... even used ones in several cases.

i've always liked the idea of getting any wrx before the 2015 update. but every time i look, either the cars are kept really nice with extravagant prices to match, or any price near reality comes attached to a car that better resembles a worn out unmaintained hooker that's going to take an entire retirement account to put back together.

Yep, hence the "ruin my life" sentiment. I had a 2005 WRX with a full STI driveline swap (6MT w/ matching LSD, 207 intake manifold, VF39 turbo, Brembos, etc). It was a headache and a half, but when it worked that was some of the most fun I'd ever had in a car. Photo from December 2019 taken on a trip to NJ. The orange car replaced that car for a short time while I had them both, then it went bye-bye.

I've also been considering a 2015-2020 WRX, but the ones in the price range I can stomach are beyond well loved.

You do not want just another WRX. You NEED a 2016 STi. One lady, (Grandma really) owned, never raced in WRB. Pay no attention to the asking price. Such a deal my wife will make for you!
(It's on Facebook Market Place and Autotrader,)

I'm quite fond of the VA STI, my former roommate in university had one. Stupid fun to drive, but I worry for me if I were to get one . I see your listing, not sure how quickly you intend to sell it though I know from your dealer escapades you did just acquire its replacement. If it is still available come spring time, I'd love to discuss more.

Being realistic, it's getting late in the season to be floating without a car or to be getting into a new to me car that has not been sorted out during the warm months.
