Possible Leaky Taillight Fix

So, just did a quick look over and didn't see what I'm posting so I figured it may help some people.

Today I went in to my local dealer to get both my tail lights replaced, first time only 1 was leaking. I was told that they had a new part number for the taillights but I was too lazy to check to verify. One thing I did notice was they shipped new foam seals, separate from the lights. Last time we had to reuse the old seal from the first leaky one.

Also, this is the big one, there is actually a torque setting and sequence to installing the lights. I'm not sure if this will 100% fix them, but we shall see. We have some serious rain coming up soon so I'll check it out and keep an eye of them.

Here are pictures of the part #'s and the installation guide from Toyota for them. First 2 are the lights and the 3rd and 4th are for the foam seals.

Sorry about the huge images, just loaded them straight from my phone!

Torque setting instructions have been there for months...the gasket is "new". The last update on the tail lights that I read specifically mentioned NOT reusing the old gasket.

To my knowledge, that is the new part of this tail light assembly.

Got my tails replaced on new years eve and noticed condensation inside last weekend again. Went to the dealer today and got new seals installed, and he menthioned the torque sequence as well. First I had heard of it. I hope this works, I guess time will tell.

@Trunksse, see this thread for the Tail llight condensation instructions that the dealer should be using to not over torque the new tail lights.

I went back and checked the TSB list here for the dates, the one for the FR-S was dated 1/16/13 and I believe was the second of it's kind for the FR-S(updated maybe?).

The Subaru TSB on the other hand was dated way back to June of 2012 when the car first came out and mentioned both the torque setting and the requirement for a new gasket(not to reuse original).

They seem to be re-releasing the same TSB with no actual new information from what was said back on practically day one. It goes to show you either that dealerships are so unconcerned with investigating these TSB's on their own to learn about them, or the communication between corporate and the dealerships just plain sucks...maybe both.
