I do this with my truck every once in a great while. I've even gone so far as to hit the unlock button on the fob, but not take the keys out of my pocket...so I get in and reach down for the start button and for a half second wonder why I can't find it... Sometimes I'm such a blonde.

I am now caught in the middle of both methods. I jump in the wife's car that does have push button and try to jam my key into a nonexistent hole. Then into my car and push on the dash at a missing button.
Mind you it took me years to stop reaching for a manual choke every time I started a car.

Hay, why did you drag me over here ..... ??

Brings to mind the time my little sister's horse got lose in a 20 acre soybean field next to the barn. The horse was running wild and tromping down a bunch of soybeans. She couldn't catch it. My father said "unless somebody gets that damn horse out of the bean field or I'm gonna shoot it"!

My father had a history of shooting "worthless" animals around the farm.

So, my brother and I, armed with a couple of buckets of grain and a rope, finally lured it to the side of the field and tied it up.

My sister came out with a bridle and led it back to the barn.

The next week, the horse was found a new home. My sister has been messed up ever since .....

I do the same thing with the gear selector. Half the time when I get in the Suburban, I reach for it in the floor, in the FRS I've been known to reach for it on the column.

The invisible clutch in my wife's car gets quite a workout when I drive. I also have determined that here shifter does not move sideways like mine does.

I hear that, it took me about 10 years to stop wanting to pump the accelerator a couple times before starting a car......

NO! @Tcoat ...... I never had the residual habit of looking for the spark advance lever .....

I used to do the invisible clutch thing when I was driving other cars that were auto.... Finally I learned to plant my left foot on the foot rest or the floor. Otherwise I'd end up left footing the brake pedal and everyone in the car would end up like a Garfield window hanger on the windshield.

Cooked some edamame along with dinner for my dad a couple years before he passed.
He said they grew soy beans for their dairy cows in Stone Lake WI.
Never knew people could eat them. Said they were pretty good.
