a cage is a part of a safety system. using parts of a system dont yeild very good results. with out a 5/6pt belt, helmet and a maybe even a hans device, a cage is only going to impair safety. cages arent street legal afaik and its for a good reason. your unprotected skull wouldnt stand a chance from even the slowest of impacts against a rollcage

The problem is with the roof bars. They are closer to your head than the roof. In a crash, you run the risk of hitting your head against them and doing more damage.
That is one of the main differences between the M and SA ratings of helmets. An SA rated helmet needs to take multiple hits to replicate the impacts against a cage during a roll over. Bar pads are not dependable protection as they have no standards for safety. Like airbags and seatbelts working together, a cage is only a part of complete safety system (cage, helmet, harness.) And not having the complete system working together can be more dangerous than not having it at all. |

Not sure to be honest. What are you trying to accomplish? A modern car is going to have sufficient roll protection. I would imagine you would be wasting weight and money on such a thing but to each his own. It just seems to me that your head is pretty important so a roll cage not around that anatomy isn't doing much

Cusco death cage? Ugh safer to remove all the sheet metal and sit on rubber bands that go between the front and rear subframe.
Are you guys talking about 4 point bars or 6+point cages? Big difference. A cage on a street car is dumb. When I'm on a computer instead of an iPad I'll reply more. Draco: really SA is for the fire resistant materials.
