Dunno. I wondered about that too. It's academic at this point.

Best way to learn manual? Buy one.

This is a huge necro thread, but I hope everyone goes for the manual in this car. If I was a Subaru/Toyota salesman and I told you there was a $1,100 optional extra that makes the 0-60 a full 1.5 second slower, adds 60 lbs of weight, and makes the car way the fun to drive, you'd call me a scam artist. Yet that is exactly what the automatic is. There are some cars that have better automatics than manuals, but this is NOT one of them.

Doesn't matter, I have an equal chance with her either way.

Don't think we need any. At the rate governments are mandating alternative fuel cars, and manufacturers are focusing on them, it's a moot point moving forward.

If you want 'em buy 'em while you can boyz, their days are numbered (at least in new cars).

But if he said it made it only .2 seconds slower 5-60 and you can now manually shift whenever you want or automatically shift whenever you like, it might paint a different picture.

But it doesn't though lol. So you are paying more money for a less engaging, heavier, and slower car. That is a terrible deal, no matter which way you paint it.

Everything I stated has been proven. Which part “doesn’t”?

Let's talk about the numbers then.

-The manual 0-60 is 1.5 seconds quicker than the automatic. That is objectively better.

-The manual 5-60 is .2 seconds quicker than the automatic. That is objectively better.

-The manual costs $1,100 dollars less than the automatic. That is objectively better.

-The manual is ~60 lbs lighter than similar trimmed automatic cars. That is objectively better.

Where exactly is the confusion at?

Not everybody gives a crap about being 1.5 seconds faster nor 60lbs lighter. Some just drive and enjoy without worrying about numbers that have zero effect on them even if "better".

Oh wow, sorry I should have put an "Automatic driver trigger warning!" on the top of my last post.

Again, it's cool that people buy automatics for personal reasons with these cars. But at least with the BRZ/86, the data is pretty ironclad that it is the worse transmission option, which is seldom the case these days.
