Damn Raccoons!

One ran in front of me while driving on the highway last night, I swerved but still clipped it on the drivers side. This was the car I was hoping to trade in for the BRZ while it was in excellent condition, insurance time now

True, I'm just out about $150 for the deductible and loaner for the day, but knowing my luck the dealer will call me today saying the BRZ's are in when my car won't be ready.

I found him.

Anyway, I was thinking that must have been one big ass raccoon you clipped man.

Its weird you had a raccoon incident when I had one too recently. Not directly though, a racoon was murdered two nights ago outside my bedroom most likely by a coyote. And man was the aftermath pretty gross. Just figured I share that.

The lucky bastard probably got away with minor lacerations.

I saw a yaris today that was missing a raccoon sized portion of it's front bumper.

It must be that time of year again!

Haha, yup that's him!

The cost of repairs was $1,491

Luckily insurance is covering all but my $100 deductible so it's not that bad, and they told me my rates won't go up as it was a no-fault accident.

I realize I lose money doing the trade, but I don't want to deal with the hassle or potential issues finding a buyer myself.

Tennessee back roads are full of these guys. Sadly they've taken out more than one of our front ends. All you can do is grab some brake and hope they scamper.

Also luckily it was your trade-in and not your new FR-S! I had that sinking feeling as i was dodging a rabid road alligator last week, as documented here. Fortunately no damage!

I am not looking to Automobile Deer Hunting Season in North Georgia.

Yep, same problem here in Atlanta. I had a buddy once that had a deer "hit him" in the front right quarter panel of his Geo Metro. Did almost $2000 worth of damge, but the deer just bounded off into the woods.

We're pretty sure the deer was talking to his buds later and said "Not sure what the bruise there is on my shoulder, I think I got bit by a bug or something, just felt a sting, and kept going".

I have another friend, avid hunter, who didn't get a single deer one season, but his wife bagged two with the same car.

I know its terrible me to laugh but this is all so very true. Too many times have I had friends completely ruin a front end only to have a deer party off with his mates. Rule of thumb, never take the texas back-roads during night, NEVER.

I agree. I sold my Civic private party, and it was super easy. First I went to Car Max, who offered me $4k. Dealer trade would probably have been nearly the same. That gave me a starting point, so I knew no matter what I could always go back there and get at least that much.

Then I listed on Craig's List for $5500. I listed it at about 10PM, and I didn't even bother with pictures (I planned to add them the next day). The next morning, I had several emails from people who wanted to come buy it for full price. Deal in cash, and it's easy.
