GR86/BRZ FA24 Oil Pressure Loss Demonstration

Not RTV related. This is worth checking out. Thoughts?

I already posted similar findings before in forum: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151509 roughly 8 months ago.

And in 900BRZ's video, that White GR86 (with RTV cleaned) is my car.

TL;DR. We collected oil pressure data from 2 gen2 and 1 gen1 car. We observed all three car has oil pressure drop in certain right hand corners and the drop will be worsen if combined with elevation changes. Overall gen1 has a bit better oil pressure in same scenario than gen2 and it could explain why most gen1 owner feels the engine is very robust after frequent track drivings while we already seen quite a few engine blow ups in gen2.

Also the location of the oil pressure sensor doesn't quite matter according to our testing. In my car the oil pressure sensor is mounted to the block oil galley port while in 900BRZ's BRZ, it was mounted to OEM oil switch port. The oil pressure reading (and drops) is very similar.

We believe the oil pressure issue we observed is concerning. There are 2 gen2 experienced engine failures at Buttonwillow in past 6 months. Both drivers did not have driver error and they are both skilled fast drivers. And Buttonwillow 13CW layout has quite a few high load right turns.

It's now up on TheDrive: https://www.thedrive.com/news/2022-s...drops-on-track

I wonder how much coverage this has to get before Toyobaru acknowledges they've done something wrong.
