Great thread. I really appreciate the fact that you had a 2017+ ZL1 because I am debating if I should wait for the price of the ZL1 to come down, but put a turbo kit on an FR-S and have some fun until then. I've always wanted to V8 swap an FR-S, but after reading this thread I think it would just be best to have both cars, keeping the FR-S for the street/road course and mod the ZL1 or even an SS for 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile racing.
The link CSG Mike posted of that 2:00 BRZ reminds me of how good sportbike riders used to take 250s and run laps around the mediocre 600cc guys. Very impressive. |

Anyone know how much weight I'll lose by ditching AC, spare tire, tools, rear seats and seat belts as well as swapping the factory seats for 9lbs Sparco buckets? I'm trying to figure out if I'll still be at a net loss after adding a 60lbs roll bar and dry sump.

Based on this thread https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7881 it looks like I'll lose
82.8lbs for seats 34lbs for rear seats and seatblets 34lbs for stripping the trunk AC I'm guess about 30lbs Total=180.8lbs New carbon Sparcos with mounts about 26lbs for pair Custom welded half cage 60lbs Dry sump and fire suppression I'd estimate about 40lbs gained So in total hoping for about a 50 plus pound weight loss with more weight in the rear and less in the front, always a good thing. I could lose more by stripping the rest of the interior and going with a lightweight battery but not wanting to do that right now. I'll report back once finished with the results of the corner balance. |
