Best source for axle boots

The boots on 2013 FRS are starting ooze some grease. I bought a spare axle and I am going to "rebuild" all 3 using Redline grease and adding a vent tube. I'd like to buy just the boots and not a kit.

What's the best source for them thar boots?

If you are going to replace you'd be better off getting the kit as the larger clamp isn't available seperately.

Order Here

If the grease in your old axles is just old and has liquified, just clean and repack them.

@Opie: Thanks for posting the video. It's been about 10 years since I took apart an axle so I need the refresher.. I ordered my boots from subarupartspro.com They were $17each + shipping. I found some random straps on ebay. I need to check to see if they are large enough.

Inspect the cups (for lack of a better term), I found mine deformed, axle failure was not imminent but certainly possible. Mine were only deformed in one direction, I heard an old trick was to flip them L/R if that was found, these will be my spares and they're marked as such.

Repacked with grease and rebooted. I bought a used left axle and put it on the right. I put my right on my left and will keep my old left as a spare.

Cleaning and repacking the outer cv was the worst part. Everything else was easy peasy.

Finished up repacking my spare axle. This is my original left. 100k miles and 20ish track days.

There was some "heat" discoloration at the lip of the cv joints. I noticed it on my other axles as well. Is this from usage or the manufacturing process?

Manufacturing, the boot would have melted if it got that hot on the car.

Well, I suck at repacking CV joints. My left axle let go after 3 sessions. The next one (left again) let go after 2 sessions. The "cups" were hot to touch even after sitting for 1/2 hr. I eyeballed the amount of Redline grease that I put into the cup. It was 1/2 to 2/3's full. I packed grease around the bearings to hold them in place for installation. Was I supposed to pack the boot with grease too?

I'm biting the bullet and sourcing OEM axles today.

Hmm .. are you boosted? Or do you run thick wheel spacers? Or maybe you have lowered car a lot? If later, i'd consider some diff riser kit to reduce back CV joint angle / reduce load & wear on it.

N/ A powered. 198 hp on last dyno pull. Lowered about 1" with Tein Flex A coilovers. I am running Federal 525 rs rr on 9x17 Apex Arc 8 wheels no spacers. Maybe I put the axle in backwards. (LOL)
