You've got marriage to look forward to! You'll have time to do a build, it's worth the wait. Bucket lists are meant to be done gradually[/QUOTE]

Thus why you are big bro. I've been really holding out. 2023 is around the corner.

Got a friend to record me taking off from his house - definitely louder than I thought, bordering discomfort. I don't like being the annoying asshole (turbo noise excepted from that)
This is also a nice showcase that upgraded clutches and lightweight flywheels don't always drive stupid. It's a Fidanza 10.8lb flywheel and a Southbend stage 3 Daily clutch that (should) hold over 400ftlbs of engine torque.

How do you like the turbo from boostlab?? I was looking into another turbo and debating on theirs or trying one of the pulstar turbos. I currently have a journal 5858 precision turbo. Boosting around 3100rpm and like right where it is at since does not break stuff to spool sooner

So far it's awesome. I can't really get on it since I'm doing break in, but I can hit 6 psi before 3500rpm at low throttle angle. The transient response is absurd compared to my previous journal bearing turbo.
I imagine the 5858 is a fairly responsive turbo and the 5858 is the perfect size for between 300-400whp

Little update - car is doing great! However, we cannot get the turbo to stop pushing oil into the downpipe in boost. I'm sending it to Boostlab to see what is going on. This may be a buyer beware, as I chose to ignore the thousands of posts of people complaining about their boostlab turbos smoking. I'll update once we get word from them on it.

Small update! Ordered a new extended oil drain flange and gasket. I had re-used my old one and forgot that the drain on the gtx3076r is round, but the flange I bought is square, which I think was causing the issue - turbo housing was dry as a bone.

Here's hoping it's just me being a dumbass no ETA from boostlab on when the new drain arrives since I bought it yesterday.

The reason I thought the turbo was letting oil past the seals is because oil looked like it was leaking out of the slip connector on the downpipe, but that was from before, and the smokeshow I've been seeing was sneaky oil dripping from the drain onto the wastegate and down the vband

I took the oil drain fitting off, cleaned it and added a new gasket just to see if it helps. I took the time to see what space there is for a resonator as well, which may be where my next $150-200 goes- I just want to quiet down the exhaust a little and kill some of the low RPM drone. Plenty of room for a fat res

So far, so good! No more smoking, let's give it 100 miles and see.
We also ended up disabling p0016, I have to reset the CEL every 2nd drive cycle and it looks like the old burned in cam gear values are taking forever to find their new "norm". Ugh.
We'll see if disabling the CEL is enough to stop the car from going into limp mode. I'm not getting a different ECU to fix this

**EDIT

Car runs fine with the CEL disabled, success!

Cruise video, trying to get a little heat into the oil and engine bay. Sorry in advance if you watch, the resonance from the engine and transmission mounts distort the camera at low RPM.
Also, if you're watching the data from ECUtek, for some reason the AFR reads super rich when coasting, I think I have the input scaling goofy

Took her to the movies today, it definitely still blows some oil if it idles for a long time and then you get on it. Otherwise, still doing great. Hopefully she'll be on the dyno soon

Car is getting dyno tuned next Sunday!
No updates really, just been driving around. We have the map safe enough where I can hit wastegate ( 15PSI) and it's fine, but sits at like 10.8 AFR at WOT haha.

I got bored and put the stock catback on, to see what the restriction and volume were like. It's quiet like my 2019 Impreza, all you hear is the engine and turbo. I will be switching it back to the FT86speedfactory x Remark quad exhaust soon because the car struggles to even build boost because there's so much backpressure. Fun experiment.

here are a few videos for you all. Cold start, testing full boost on one tune revision (it overboosts and hit boost cut) and the stock exhaust demo. I only went WOT in 3rd, you can see how slow the needle climbs compared to the other video..
