Back in the old Army, I had a mess sergeant that helped with the "overweight" problem. He trained his serving cooks, in the mess hall, to limit the servings of fattening foods to the "fat" soldiers.

My company medic helped the so called "broken" soldiers, by recommending the "peanut shot" be given. That separated out the really broken ones from the "just thing they are broken" ones.

HOOAH
I'm assigned to Sustainment Brigade, ugh. And they are always on mission as 88M and 91B. So they are tasked out so much they can't even get an entire platoon to PT, let alone the whole company doing it. And then after working for 15hrs they just go home, pig out, drink till they pass out, and then start it all over again. Plus any NCO above E6 ghost PT; same with anyone above O3.

I agree.

Not nearly as exciting as the good old days of racing -

Indycar is just as impressive as F1 on road courses. I don't know all the rules. They're both super-sticky rockets. Indycar just, I dunno... I know it's all a rich man's game so the impression is bullshit, but it feels like it's in the sweet spot between beer-&-brats of NASCAR and champagne-&-caviar of F1.

I had to look up Sustainment Brigade. We used to call that type of unit a Division Support Command. But that figures since the Army went from a division-based structure to a brigade-based army.

Even in the old Army, I never saw an NCO above the rank of E-6 or an officer above O-3 on a PT field.

Even though Indy Car is distinctly American I fully understand that sentiment.

Again, sounds like normal to me. They've all reached a level were they're important and needed, so they don't have time for a lot of other stuff lower ranks have time for.

Just today, a guy in church was complaining about getting the projector going. That falls on me because no one else has easy access to the ladder needed. It got hit with a surge 4 weeks ago, Took 3 weeks to get the parts, and all last week I've been working 13+ hours/day. Weather finally broke, so now the summer panic has set in on everyone to get all their construction work in.

So I took some unofficial personal time on my day off to do wtf I wanted for a change instead of spending 4-6 hrs doing yet another thing for a different cause with a different boss So sue me.

Like I said, now you're just sounding old and crotchety. "Damn millennials can't do PT like we used to!"

Well, I know certainly attending an Indy race would be waaay cheaper that trying to attend an F1 race.

Did a quick search, the average price is $114 for Indy. So, Dollar for Dollar you get more out your money from watching Indy.

I merely watch F1 out of habit, I've been watching since I have a memory, wasn't privileged to be able to watch Senna race, but was lucky to watch Schumi and other greats from his era. Now is just, well, you know. Not saying there aren't great races out there, but is certainly not as it used to be.

The perks of the rank. You're expecting way to much from a unit of Mechanics/Drivers. Same thing in my old signal unit, we had 3 SGTs that were pieces of lard. At one point less than 50% of the unit was fully in the green. Can you request to go to a Ranger/SF unit.

Im sure you could persuade the CSM to push PT. CSM or 1SGT love anything that makes soldier's life miserable.

Maybe it's because I grew up (literally) on dirt and paved ovals and dragstrips, but I just don't get the attraction of attending an F1 race. I'd much rather watch it on TV where I can actually see most of the action rather than hoping I pick the right corner.

Now maybe if they would actually put their money where there mouth is and make a portion of the track inverted, well, that I'd pay to see.

You're right. I'm all for the sake of safety. Can't really enjoy a race if your favorite driver busts into flames after falling from the edge of a cliff. But it gave the sport that extra heat (See what I did there) in order to put the extra effort to wake up early in the morning or stay up late to watch a race on the other side of the world, and it was worth it because you never knew what would happen.

Sht, I must've been raised on a track then, Honduras's roads are mostly dirt roads. No wonder it was so much fun when my dad would send it on his dirt bike whenever he would take me for a ride.

A lot of people do it for the same reason I still watch F1; habit, tradition. F1 has always been all about the money, or at least pretending you have it if you attend after you just paid an average month of rent/mortage for 1 day of either FP, Quali, or Race Day.

For safety, that would never happen. I think we have rally for that. Now, bringing back the V10s or V12s, now we are talking.
