Lap times look pretty similar between 17'' and 18''. My driving is too inconsistent for that 1'' to matter. :p

Honestly, even if 18'' was scientifically proven to be faster, the extra cost of 18'' tires isn't worth it to me.

I've been on summer tires for weeks now. The weather wouldn't make up it's mind and it was getting warm enough to wreck snow tires.

Agree, 17" for the track, and buy the lightest weight wheels you can afford. 18" if you like the look on the street and don't care too much about track performance.

I took my snow tires off a few weeks ago. The Michelin Primacy's did surprisingly well in our last slush-snow storm.

I just got my OpenFlash Tablet. I've tried Ecutek, and Unichip, and I must say from an end user ease of use prospective they are total crap compared to the OFT.

It's super easy to connect and upload a tune. There is a good and expanding assortment of tunes. Tune files aren't locked so you can share them, and the unit itself is married to a particular car but you flash back to stock you can un-marry it.

So far Vishnu's tunes seem to be top notch, but it sounds like anyone can tune with this platform with open source software.

I can't wait to burn through the half tank of gas I currently have so I can fill up with E85 and test out that tune

I'd highly suggest this to any of you looking for a tuning solution, and they are offering a $100 discount for those who already have EcuTek. You just need to provide a copy of your receipt and pic of your dongle.

The realtime gauge display and data logging features are great and very easy to use.

I tried stage 1 at first because I don't have a header yet, but today I switched to stage two EL tune and it seems to run a bit better although they both run great.

Torque dip is almost nonexistent, and I'm hoping to finish off my current tank of gas in the next couple of days so I can try E85 this weekend. I admit I've been driving a little out of my way to burn more gas, and loving it since the car is running so great.

18" also gives you the benefit of a stiffer sidewall and a lower profile tire which would benefit you at the track but does nothing in the 1/4 mile, granted you adjust accordingly to spec(i.e 215-40-R18). But I agree, I rather go lightweight and less $$$ over the vise-versa.

"Stretching the tire" will also artificially stiffen the sidewall, e.g., 8'' on 215/45/17 tire. Still within tire specs.
