Yes. Originally they were going for early this year. Then later this year. Now it's looking more like next year.

Thank you for your interest. A 17x8" fitment for the 86/BRZ has been on our radar for quite some time as we understand some enthusiasts prefer running 215 or 225 tires, or have to comply with with class rules that limit wheel and tire width.
With that said, we believe that a majority of enthusiasts seeking this slimmer fitment would prefer it in one of our flow formed designs from a cost perspective (we could be wrong!). New flow formed wheel development took a bit of a backseat to this new Forged Sprint Line release, so the 17x8" wheel project has been on hold. We'll definitely update the community when we circle back to this project, but in the interim we would love to hear from more enthusiasts interested in this size in regards to whether a flow formed wheel design or our new VS-5RS forged wheel is desired. - Ryan

We originally only made samples of the 17x9" ET35 Gen I fitment (which is what you see on mounted the cars throughout this thread so far), but our 17x8.5" ET44 and 17x9" ET48 Gen II sample wheels are now ready to roll so we're working hard to generate some content. Stay tuned!

17X8" ET40 APEX ARC-8? Yes please. I will send you monies right now! I think that would be perfect with a nice sticky 225/45-17 for a daily driver like mine. My commute takes me on some of the best roads in NY state, and I'll be looking for a new set of summer wheels and tires in the spring

Bolt-on 17x8.5 ET44 Fitment Showcase A lot of you have been asking to see on-car photos of our new 17x8.5" VS-5RS forged wheel fitment specifically designed for the Gen II, so we brought in a clean and 100% stock example to show just how easy this wheel and tire fitment is to implement. Aside from all of the functional features our VS-5RS forged wheel design offers, this setup is wider and lighter than stock and will bolt right up to the car without the need for spacers or fender mods. We mounted 245/40-17 Falken RT660 tires which is a popular track oriented compound that runs quite wide, so this shoot really shows off one of the wider tire configurations an enthusiasts might run with this wheel setup. For more notes on tires and Gen 2-specific APEX wheel options, be sure to consult our fitment guide. APEX VS-5RS Forged Wheels in Anthracite

Love that 8.5 size. I'm planning to pick up a set next year to put either 200tw 225s or 235-245 300tw for not-so-serious track/autocross stuff.

Given ARC-8 17x9" ET42 fit without spacers, I thought that offset would be option as well and with aftermarket suspension there can be space for some camber.

The new 17x8.5" ET44 is an easy bolt-on solution as shown above, and the new 17x9" ET48 has a slightly higher offset in comparison to the Gen I 9" fitments we offer (ET42 & ET35) so that the rear is easier to tuck under the fenders. With that said, if a gen II owner has negative camber dialed in and is willing to trim their rear fenders, they can certainly go for one of our lower offset 9" "gen I" wheels. ![]() That fitment is certainly on our radar for this new VS-5RS line. I don't have a hard ETA right now, but we'll be sure to keep the community posted when progress occurs! In the interim, we do still have a few 18x9.5" ET40 sets in stock in our soon to be discontinued EC-7R forged wheel design (on major sale). - Ryan
