When Function Meets Form ![]() As wheel specialists, we understand that when it comes to reducing weight and increasing stiffness in wheel spokes, there is a big difference between functional and aesthetic side milling. Instead of milling a few negligible millimeters of depth just to look cool, our engineers optimized our new motorsport blanks to create narrower yet significantly deeper spokes with deeper side milling that is nearly 50mm wide on some wheels. The result is a stiffer “I” beam-spoke shape that also showcases a stunning aesthetic, and when you compare the depth and side milling of our spokes vs. many other wheel offerings in the marketplace, there is a stark difference. If you haven't already, we recommend you read our technical write-up on our deeper and wider side-milling. - Ryan

We don't rely solely on computer simulations or unverifiable in-house testing. We believe independent testing is critical to protect consumers in this unregulated industry. We chose STL, an independent lab in Ohio, to test our Sprint™ wheels far above JWL standards, including increases in testing duration, impact drop height, and total load. Currently, I believe those ETAs are correct, but we'll send out an update both via GangUp, email and here on the forums if anything does get pushed back. -Tom

Learn more about our unique Wheel Replacement Program This program has flown under the radar for quite a few years, but is something many APEX customers rave about. It can be hugely valuable for racers that make contact with another car or find themselves taking "the scenic route" off-track, and equally as valuable for enthusiasts that run out of talent leaving their local Cars and Coffee. Our goal wasn't just to make pushing your car to the limit more affordable, but also to reduce the chances of a bent wheels being sold in the second hand market. - Ryan

Beautiful work guys. Absolutely drool worthy. I don’t track my care and can’t really use any more than 8” of width, but these are simply gorgeous. JP

So the 17x8.5 with 235/40's work as a direct bolt on with no issues on stock suspension?
I was leaning on 17x8's since the 9's appear to have issues rubbing on the (mostly) stock suspension I plan on keeping for another year or two. However, the 8.5 wheels kind of solves my issue of buying a wider set of wheels whenever I eventually upgrade to coilovers down the road. I don't think I would miss out much from a 235mm on the 8.5 vs. 245 on the 9. That would just leave the problem of deciding on satin bronze or anthracite as my top choice... |

My issue with 235/40 is limited selection of tires. |

I definitely agree, though 245's should also fit with some camber up front reading the fitment guide. I wonder if my measly -2 degrees of camber will clear that with 8.5's.
I'm also super happy to read that the rear fenders do not have to be touched. |

I also ran 17x8 et48 on the stock suspension with no rubbing. Running 215 on those. |

I was always under the impression that 245's wouldn't fit without coilivers, but if that's not the case I would be more than happy to buy a set of RS-4's in that size. Either way, I'll have time to figure it out before these ship.

From the apex fitment page: Front & Rear: 17x9" ET48 Available in: VS-5RS Popular Fitment These wheels require a 5mm front spacer for strut clearance on OEM Gen 2 suspension. If additional negative camber has been dialed in at the knuckle, a larger spacer may be required. 245/40-17 Last edited by dragoontwo; 08-08-2022 at 08:54 PM. |
