Hello all,
EDIT: Here's the video link. Can take a better video tomorrow if requested. New account here, but I've owned the car since late 2019. Recently I have been having an issue that is driving me absolutely crazy and I can't seem to find a topic relating (or I'm just dumb) to it on this forum. When sitting still at idle, I shift into first gear, and upon trying to start accelerating the car shutters pretty heavily starting out. It almost seems as if something is locking up, but once I'm moving more than 1 or 2 miles per hour the issue disappears. I know this seems like I just don't know how to drive a manual, but I have been driving manual transmissions for the better part of my driving career and have not had this issue arise until recently. It's to the point that no matter what RPM or how slowly I leave out the clutch, it happens regardless. All other gears are unaffected and it is only when starting out in 1st. I recently had the throw-out bearing go out in the past 6 months (did not frag), so I had a new OEM clutch kit installed by a non-dealer mechanic. Other than that, there has been nothing that has needed to be replaced transmission wise. Car was bought at 65k miles and is now sitting just over 100k. I can provide a video tomorrow if needed. I'm beginning to think I'm the problem at this point. Please help (or tell me what I've done wrong). Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Guys, Eric Last edited by eman11500; 09-14-2021 at 11:26 PM. Try a bit more slip in those lower speeds, or commit to more throttle when you feel the oscillations starting. Between those 2 I was able to eliminate them.

Could be the transmission Mount flexing which from my experience can cause bucking in the driveline.
Something you can solve with a bushing insert. |

I've attempted to commit to more throttle but it makes no difference in the shuttering. By slip, do you mean leave the clutch partially engaged?

Did the issue start right away after clutch work? Kinda sounds like chatter

Does the bushing just fail over time causing this issue? |

Seems to have just showed up one day, and picks and chooses the days that it's really bad. Other times it's hardly even noticeable |

Yep, try mimicking a torque converter and don’t let it lock up fully until you’re out of the oscillation zone. It’s a clutch, it’s made to slip. So slip it lol. Just not excessively. The reason it only shows up in 1st is because 1st has so much more mechanical advantage over the car than the other gears, so those effects are exaggerated. |

If I still can't get it, i'll grab a video and throw a youtube link up here for you guys. Should make a little easier to diagnose rather than me relaying all the information ( I am mechanically inclined, but nowhere near technician levels) Thanks for the help so far everyone |

Does air conditioning being on affect it at all? air filter in good shape? How are spark plugs? No misfires or bogging?

Air filter is good, haven't checked plugs recently but I see no other instance of RPM dip or power surges, no misfires or bogging at all. Seems more like a drivetrain/tranny issue imo since engine is unaffected Last edited by eman11500; 09-14-2021 at 10:56 PM. Reason: added info |

Here's a quick video I just ran out and took because I won't be able to sleep tonight with this on my mind.
