In regards to the diff, why go lighter in track situations where temps are higher?

Pentosin MTF2 (75w80, GL-4) in the Gearbox, Motul 300 (75w90) in the diff. NOT LSD oil. There are no clutch discs in there.

Op, what do you do?
If just normal DD, any brand will do. |

Its a bit over 2 for the trans but DO NOT use it in the diff! It is NOT for use with hypoid gears like a differential, please use a synthetic gl-5 75w-90 in the diff

For trans I use a funnel and tube, fill from above. Diff, I use a pump.

I switched my tranny fluid out with MT-90 and found that it made some things better, and some things worst. On stock fluid, attempting to downshift from 5th to 4th aggressively at 3k+ rmps would lock me out 4th. Other than that, I found the stock fluid to be quite pleasant.
With Redline MT-90, upshifting to 3rd gear would result in a "clanking" sensation and noise, which did happen before, but much more rarely. Going from 1st to 2nd also is a bit more difficult if you shift sloppily, unless you mentally try and slot it in the gear in the perfect angle, then it is very smooth. However, the downshifting lockout issue has been fixed and overall shifts do feel a bit smoother, yet heavier if that makes sense. I'm curious if others experienced similar results as me and do transmission break down and lose viscosity over time? |

Penzoil Synchromax seems to be the leader.
I've used redline MT oil in my 01 Outback 5-speed I bought with 80k on it. It helped with the shifting for sure. 1-2 had a little hitch in it that it eliminated. I never changed it and sold the car at 180k. Thinking back, I'll just go back to Redline. Not sure what flavor of gear oil it was, had a shop put it in. Oxyg3n's comments concern me though, maybe Penzoil is the way to go. Don't see any issues mentioned. |

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...A2SNKCOWT2PS9P Is it possible to mix this with MT-90? I still have some MT-90 left and hate to waste it. I recall seeing a few people mixing but can't seem to find the post anymore. |
