The TRD rally suspension lives again!
It took longer than I planned, but I have once again installed the rally TRD rally suspension. This time in a 2019 Series Grey BRZ. Due to the larger Brembo's on the Grey I needed better brake clearance. Enkie Sport RC-T5 are true Tarmac wheels. The 17x8.5et45 with 245/40r17's fit perfectly. My experience with the handling characteristics of the TRD Rally suspension on the FRS lead me to decide against using the TRD Rally Struts, and instead opting to use the SACHS performance package struts as they felt significantly better than the OE FRS struts and valved better for the kind of driving I do 99% of the time. ![]() ![]() ![]() upload images |

Do the TRD struts and shocks come with different bump stops or do you re-use the stock ones?

90% sure it came with them. I can't find the photos of the full contents of what came in the box though. |

I picked up the TRD Rally suspension also. I am still waiting on some other parts before I can install them so I thought I would get some shock dynos done.
Purple is TRD Front Green is TRD rear Red is the stock rear (We ran out of time before they could run up the stock front I had)

I installed my TRD rally suspension over the weekend. I used pedders offset strut tops in the front with some camber bolts, Anderson Design and Fabrication 1" strut spacers all around and 215/60R16 tires for a fair bit of ground clearance. Contrary to what is mentioned earlier in the thread, with new oem rubber isolator between spring and strut top, the springs were definitely captive. I cut 1/2" off the front bump stops and 3/8" off the rears to give things a little more room to move.
Initial driving impressions are quite good. The tires I have are like balloons but taking that into account it corners pretty well, it's definitely not wallowy either but does still soak up bumps pretty well. I have taken it on some dirt roads but the part with corners was closed due to flooding so I will reserve my thoughts on dirt road handling for another time.

That makes sense, I am using Raceseng camber plates, which would be the reason I don't have a full capture on the springs.

Also as an update, I will say, I am very happy with the TRD rally spring paired with the SACHS performance package struts. It's a great fit for mostly driven on tarmac backroads on low treadwear summer tires.

That is something I've hoped to do now that I am lifted. Unfortunately the covid restrictions where I live have made it tough. I can say that going from lowered 1" to lifted almost 2" has been an awesome quality of life modification. Avoiding potholes, speed humps and steep driveways is no longer a concern.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CIzIU8SH..._web_copy_link Had I been even on stock springs, this would have been REALLY BAD. However all that happened was it knocked my bumper halfway off and I had to replace some clips and the corners lights. Just 10mm of lift goes a long way in increasing quality of life with these cars on some horrible back roads. After this I seriously considered some of those lift spacers, lol. |
