Break-in period but running out time!

Hey everyone,

I'm having a blast driving this thing in the AM. I've driven some pretty cool roads as my first few drives. My issue- my AutoX is scheduled for the 25th at lime rock, which is basically a mini track. According to my calculations, I'll have about 850-900 for the 25th.

My silly question- If I get an oil change the night before at 850mil, would that still be safe? Lime rock is 80mile from me so add that to the clock I guess? lol

Now that my kids are asleep- i'm going out for a quick 20mil loop. brb

Go, have fun. You have a warranty. And I wouldn't bother with an oil change, unless my owners manual says to.

Manual says 1,000 oil change. No revs above 4k.

Take the kids for a couple drives in the next two weekends, that oughta do it

Otherwise, yeah, I think I'd change the oil prior to the event even if it's a little short of 1000.

Where? I didn’t see any mention of an oil change before 6000 miles / 6 months.

Don't overthink this. The break in period is mostly for the clutch, brakes, and diff. Manufacturing has come a long way, and engines don't need the break ins they used to.

My first autox was at 600 miles, and I'd be shocked if I ever see any issues from it. The BRZ doesn't specify an oil change at 1000 miles, and just says to do the normal 6000 mile service interval.

You'll be just fine.

Changing ALL the fluids is a great idea to get break-in metals out.

Yes, correction the manual just says keep under 4k for the first 1,000.

Yeah, I'm sending it for sure. I'll be short of the 1,000mil for the first oil change. Oil change appointment is 23rd, AutoX is June 25th. Can't wait to start learning and feeling the car out..

Yeah, like your diff, trans, etc. All that stuff is going to have metals stuck to the plug magnets or just in the fluid. More will be in there during the first 1k miles as things wear in. Change all that so it's not floating around in there for the next 30k.
