Clunking noise caused by loose endlinks?
Edit: Solved, thanks everyone.
I just installed a set of Fortune Auto 500 coil overs with a 18x9.5 +38 square set up. I drove around for a bit and heard clunking/popping? noises in the front/rear when going over a bump or turning at the front of the car. I think it might be the end links. I cant seem to tighten the front endlinks since they just spin and there's no hex in the middle or anything to stop it from spinning, so I just tightened as much as I can. Here's a quick image of the fortune auto front endlinks I grabbed from a website and a video. ![]() ![]() All the bolts were tightened down and I am pretty sure the preload was set correctly, but I am hearing major clunking for some reason. Not sure if its the endlinks or some other problem. Last edited by Bee; 12-22-2020 at 10:24 PM. Reason: Solved |

There is a flat spot between the swaybar and the endlink (or strut flange and endlink) that you can slip a thin wrench on to keep it from spinning and get it torqued properly, that's probably what you need to do.

The pictures you had of your install that I can't see anymore...I would double check that you have enough of the ball joint shank captured in the center tube section. Looked like it was about to fall out.

Thanks everyone for the help. I torqued down the end links using a thin wrench to hold it in place and somewhat fixed clearance issues with the end link hitting the front lower control arm. Big clunking noises are gone, just some small rattles in the front/rear now that I will have to check on later.

I installed my coilovers about a week ago and it was initially perfect, but a few days ago it started making those clunking noises in the front. Most likely the front end links' nuts have come undone, I tightened them when car was lifted but I heard you should do it with car on the ground. Gonna be a pain since it is tough to get in there with the wheels on, hopefully that fixes it.
I also got a clunking on the back when the suspension gets unloaded (like on a right turn into a shopping center sidewalk), which is weird since the back came with helper springs. |

I have FA500s too. The front end links that come with them are garbage and are not provided with lock nuts.
I now have whiteline.

From the angle of the picture it looked like the links might be set too long for best action.
Check with car on the ground. |

I went ahead and tightened them end links while on cribbing blocks and the clunk is gone. whew. I was worried the pillow ball bearings were loose and wearing down while they clunked. I also thought the end links might have been rubbing against the front LCAs.
