I tried but it's happening less and less now. It seems when I drive semi aggressive or extremely aggressive, it doesn't happened at all. It only happens when I baby her. I also only felt it one time when I babied her today and I barely felt any kind of crunch at all. I also changed my driving style a bit after the first couple days of the issue to no more downshifting to first unless I'm 5 MPH or lower. If I'm 6+, I recover with second gear and, shifting at around 2.5k RPM instead of 3.

With a combination of all this, it's almost gone. I'm still probably gonna change my gear oil in the future just in case.

Is this more of a crunching sound issue or more of a notchy resistance when changing gears? I never noticed it in the month I've driven my BRZ, but in the past 2 days the shifts have become more notchy in the mornings (no strange sounds present, although I do hear something engaging in the rear of the car if the setting is quiet enough, but this sound has been present since getting the car.) The notchiness started occuring when the mornings got ~10F cooler.

It's the rough resistance that I explained in my first post. All of that is almost gone with the new driving style. I'll get back with more updates from whether and temperature changes.
