2nd set of Sti skirts were picked up from a local, hopefully the abs fit better than the older urethane ones!
Oil cooler fitting finally sourced!

90% sure I'm trashing this bodykit. I will just make a lip and use the grille on a brand new OEM bumper. The fit is that bad... nevermind trying to make the openings not look ghetto.
Oil cooler is finished. Basiclly a FBM setup with a Setrab 19row core and Mishimoto sandwhich plate, and their banjo bolts. So far pretty happy. Warms up nicely and runs around 15-20* cooler for the daily drive! Did the idler test. Did ok but it scared the shit out of me. Basically close hood, w/ no airflow and let the car idle for 1-1.5 HOURS in sunny 86F weather. Did so and logged the data. At then end of the test max oil temp was 204F and holding strong. Keep in mind this is with a turbo cooking everything. Imediatly hopped in it and turned on the AC to get the 2nd fan running and dropped to 202 in a few seconds. Took off down the highway with a shit storm of smoke behind me (the oil cooking in the turbo.) After a puff and 3 back-to-back 3rd gear pulls on the highway I never hit above 208F. I think I'll be quite ok on the track now Doing similar beforehand I would easily be 239F+ I think. Grimspeed's hood struts. Should have done them sooner. My only tiny complaint is the bolts were polished/stainless instead of painted black so they stand out abit. Easy fix. Next up is wheels and suspension! And maybe NX kit, meth or just upgrade pump/1k injectors and FBM fuel rails! Lastly a photo another took of her at the Aug 2015 KC Cars and Coffee!

Also worked out a deal with DSG Performance for some damn wheels finally. Ditching the SA15-Rs for a set of WedsSport's new 2015 SA-72R in Gunmetallic! Wheel should be in mid-late October. Also picked up a set of black, 48mm Muteki lugnuts and Wed's specific hub centric adapter rings. Drove home like this... was impossible to raise oil temps on the highway while moving. Never passed 176*F. I had to stop and let it idle to get the temps to climb. I feem this is mostly because I took out the big foam piece infront of the crashbar meaning my condensor and rad finally get some fresh air without having to go through the intercooler.

Honestly that would look pretty good grill-less and crash beam and surround painted black!

Pretty much just the top edge left to do and a bit of finishing before carbon/paint. Black guide coat put on it to make seeing the imperfections easier as I sand and becuase I need to visualize it. Looking alright I think... a bit further away from the STi concept I wanted but, having to make it adapatable for the OEM bumper, this is the best I can do.

This is the last time I have to sand this damn thing. Thankfully! Started communications with Charloma, Seibon, US Composites and Arising Automotive about getting a few of these produced in pre-preg/infused carbon fiber. Haven't heard much back from any of them.
In the mean time I will finish up the final, final, final sanding and give it a lick of gloss black. I was also quoted $95 to have it hydro dipped in carbon but that feels like cheating. IDK If I could figure out how to lay down the carbon into the top opening I'd consider making a mold myself and making a few using wet layup. But, so far all my pratices have resulted in a destroyed weave and wasted vacuum bagging materials. :/ Started looking into mesh inserts. The cheap aluminum is easily out. Looking at the abs ones. I'd like something that looks like the 3/d gloss black grille on the Audi S5 but, cannot find anything that way other than oem grilles which seem to small for the BRZ's opening. Found a forum in which an owner of a Cayman GTS made a grille using the honeycomb abs mesh and like it. I decided to buy some myself and see how it looks. I ordered a slightly larger one with each honeycomb being 1.2 inches wide. So larger essentially.

Lick of paint and a ton of clear coat to create a near perfect smooth surface for molding. I can't quite yet put down cash on a nice vacuum bagging setup so I'll have to run it on the car as-is for a few weeks.
Black with a light bronze pearl. Testing the paint out, hoping it will match my wedssports. Same ebay store as the cayman guy before me... so far so good. They had it shipped the next day with tracking entered before that. The ones shown on the CGTS are NOT the XXL size. http://stores.ebay.com/customcargril...=p4634.c0.m322

Grille is ready!
1. Removed the emblem and grinded off the paint to the bare plastic. Plastic welded a piece in, filling the holes. 2. Roughed up and smoothed over the surface with a 24grit roloc disc. I then cleaned the plastic removing all oils and sprayed it with Pilo Grip's plastic repair adhesion promoter. 1 light dusting. A fiberglass backing mesh was applied to the surface. 3. Applied a 2-part repair adhesive specifically for structure repairing bumpers, Urethane/TPO/ABS. Then I smoothed it over with a bondo spreader. 4. Sanded to shape up to a 180 grit finish. Ready for primer. Started deleting the sidemarker, used a junk bumper to cutout some sidemarker delete pieces. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...ostcount=12963 Then prepped and plastic welded them in! Looks like I won't be getting my wheel until the 2nd week of November now... Sema seems to be the reason for the delay.

Painted the front end. 02C WRB and a custom black pearl mix I made to match my wheels that I finally got a tracking number on!!! It is pretty much Toyota Black Sand Pearl + GM Dark Bronze Mist + Yellow Toner and Iridecent Gold Pearl Powder I think it will be close. I decided to do my ground effects in this color pattern to keep with the theme.
Also got my OLM LED Corona projector fog lights. Pretty painless wiring. Will have to make 1 pigtail to piggy back off my old sidemarker lights for the LED ring and will be set. Very bright. The LED ring itself is easily brighter than the BRZ's boomerang. Big thanks to @FT-86 SpeedFactory for the quick processing. Quote:
Anyways. Moving forward.
