Don't some of you guys THINK Toyota would've purchased some S2000's for testing and bench marking prior to the revival of the 86? If I'm not mistaken, Toyobaru were aiming WAY higher going for Porsche Cayman level. Keep saying all you will about inferior suspension but the 86 has what works in design combination for a $25k car.

The rear suspension of the FRS is not even really a double wishbone. It's like a single wishbone / multi-link design with good geometry. The front macs have good geometry for simple struts too. It all works greatly in its full design. They did say they were going to revive the ae86, right? Well this is it. $25k brand new fresh off the lot. Take it or leave it.

For those interested, FRS suspension look:
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/t...alkaround.html
http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...cion-FR-S.aspx

It's funny how some people come here to prove how their older s2000, mustang, corvette, porsche or whatever, is against the NEW 86

In that price segment BRAND NEW, what the hell else are you gonna buy? Genesis coupe?

For one, if I wanted a USED performance two-seater, it will never be an S2000. Bang for the buck, it'd be the c6 vette. Hard to beat in that particular used sports car segment.

I still love the s2000 though. Is that what you wanted to hear?

Or why not get the FRS and potentially be a threat to V8's and stuff? I chose the FRS and I am so happy that I have this beast of potential.

Can't get an S2000 new anymore and even if you could, it would I wouldn't care for it.

S2000's are nice but don't draw me in. In that price range used, I'd rather go for the better c5/c6 vette. They're loaded with potential and will quickly make sauce out of an FRS or S2000. No contest against the vette for performance per dollar. Especially C6's since the c7 release. Should make for a monster raceway lapping animal. Hook it up with some Pfadt coilovers on some sticky rubber and pretty much put all this 4 banger shit to shame haha.

But I need some form of backseats It just won't happen having TWO 2-seaters with the wifey lol. ...and the MR2 thing goes deep. Was a dream car of mine back in middle school. I don't think I could ever let the old relic go.
Tons of untruths here.

Stop reading internet forums with street cars, and read up on vettes that are REALLY tracked/raced.

Mike, you won't get through to this guy. I know him well from the MR2 forums. He has some kind of a complex and always has to have the last say, even if his logic is a bit daft. Perhaps his wife never lets him have it his way so he acts out on the internet.

I think the video is great and I'd rather drive an FR-S or an S2000 over a Corvette anyway.... I don't like potatoes coming out of my exhaust.

*Internet banter*

Ok girls, I think we've beaten this s2000 vs. frs vs. vette vs. anything else debate to death. Can we move onto the real debate; who is the cutest 1 Direction member?

Vid is interesting as entertainment but that S2K is far from being driven well enough to make any remotely worthwhile comparisons.

Vettes - in a whole other league if they're well driven and have some basic track prep.

Power is power so I'll rather take the better chassis.

The s2000 was a $40k car new anyways... No backseats, ewww convertible, nice motor, and I think they're boring to look at...
me likes your sw20 very much i agree i like both cars both have a great platform but i think the chassis on the 86 is way more capable. ive never driven an s2000 but ive tracked my 86 plenty of times and once you put better pads good fluid and ss lines i also did a brake booster brace the brakes come alive and i can out brake some serious cars while tracking. because 86. any way i like your input and your sw20 good looks good sir.

I've driven 2 AP1 S2000's. Neither in a track environment. But I will say that it's a more capable car than the 86 stock. But that's reflected in the price of entry brand new. The Honda was in the low to mid 30 thousand range, and the FR-S/BRZ are (natch) 25-28k. Definitely a more focused car too, but the twins were meant to be an affordable entry level sports car a la the AE86, so the car was built to spec.

I think the S2000 brakes and turns in (compared to a stock BRZ) better stock for stock. To me the transmissions are equally good. And of course it has a more powerful engine and wider tires.
So yeah, as far as numbers go the Honda is better.

At the end of the day though, the new 86 ends up being a more fun car. There's no snap oversteer like the S2k (which I got to experience lol); so you can slide around without much fear of hitting a tree.
