Got sideswiped this morning

I was driving down the street in the center lane and I guess I was in someone's blind spot, because they were in a big SUV and pulled onto my car and scratched the rim, fender, and door and left a small dent by the side skirt. It doesn't look too bad compared to other's I've seen but what's ur opinion? Good thing I didn't get a wide body yet, RIP fenders.

Yeah they stopped, I don't have a dash cam but I'm now considering one. It was clear that she was at fault so either her or her insurance company is paying for the damage. I got a police report filed so it's just a matter of time (5-7 days) until they send me the info. But in the worst case, I have her license plate number.

Dude always, always, always get a police report. Nothing is clear from your picture as to who was at fault.

Well, now ....... that is a shame......

It looks like it will fix up to be just fine.

NOTE: I feel the center (turn) lane is the most dangerous place to be driving ....... EVERYBODY, going both ways, thinks THEY have the right of way .........

Exactly why I asked what I asked. Poster's word against the other driver.

Whenever this happens you should ALWAYS get the other person's insurance information, contact information, etc. and immediately call your insurance company and tell them what happened (assuming you have full coverage). They will take care of making sure that the other person's insurance company pays up and it saves you a major hassle. In most states I've lived in, the other person is required by law to have at least basic collision coverage to coverage damage to someone else's property if they are at fault. If you have comprehensive, at the least it would cover you, but the best part is they'll make sure your car gets fixed and they'll go after the other person's insurance company (or the person) to recoup their money.

I know at least in California it takes FOREVER to actually get the police report from the CHP, so it's important you start the ball rolling on your own.

you should really consider that investment for a dashcam. I got a solid one for 250 dollars including all necessary hardware and even if it only saves you from one incident, it'll no doubt pay for itself right there.

Being a non-white college aged male, even if it's not my fault, the person can plead their case and the cop will likely believe them over me (happened twice in my life so far.) Even the peace of mind knowing you won't get screwed by someone else on the road is enough IMO.

Break out your 3M rubbing compound, a shamwow, and lots of elbow grease. Should be able to get most of the visible stuff out. Sorry man.
