Thanks. What boost would small pulley provide? Normal one I guess about 7psi with peak at about 9. From what I read in the internet, to keep setup reliable on stock internals boost shouldn’t exceed 7.5psi.

There isn’t a set amount of boost that will keep the engine together. Stock engines fails. Linear tq delivery helps a lot. 250ftlb at 4500rpm is danger zone for the engine and transmission generally.

With a c38 i get about 12.5-13 psi. I would never run it on a stock block but i respect the balls of someone that does.

damn thats what im getting with the HBP lol. my 93 tune with the c38 was max 9.5psi making around 300whp and I daily drove that for the last 3 years (20k miles) with no issues. now with the HBP im at like 12psi and 360whp so we will see how long she lasts. My car only has 61k miles on it so keeping my fingers crossed

I have the high boost pulley too with mine. I've seen 1.95bar absolute hitting the limiter while tuning, but most of the time i looked at the logs I was 1.85-1.9bar when letting out.

With a built engine my concerns now are the clutch holding the power and the trans letting go. IAG said the block was good for 8200rpm and 20psi. So far so good

I'll chime in and say I've been running the C38 with the HBP on strictly E85 for about 2 years and probably 10k miles now. Been boosted for about 30k miles in all and have had no issues yet on the stock block with every supporting mod you can think of. Moderate spirited driving and a few redline 5th gear changes when I do drive it on nice days. I can't say what max boost is at redline but my tuner told me a long time ago it's 10 psi @ 7k rpm on my setup. These engines are either really good or really bad. It's a gamble from the very start. At 56k miles, I consider myself very lucky.

i found a bit funny you have such a powerfull config and no idea/don t care of the boost you are running with honestly

a c38 with high boost pulley will have 10 psi at 6000rpm, 12.5psi at 7000rpm and 14psi at 7400rpm
The problem with this kind of boost is that over time rods will bend, specially if you have no idea what s going on in your engine, or put less octane in tank than required by the tune, every knock with that high boost at rpm can help deteriorating

then suddenly one you get a rich afr, misfires and knock all the time and car doesn t run a shit and you ll notice the compression in cilinders is gone

luckily you use e85 only and that helped, probably you avoided often going to redline too

you guys lucky to have e85
but don t you have a greddy in your boosted car? are you running 1 bar at redline? a turbo also would be easier on engine than a centrifugal supercharger i guess

at same whp, the supercharger is more tough on engine, it means it needs to produce more boost (or anyway more airflow) to equal the performance of the turbo

the exhaust blockage is less taxing than the parasitic loss on the belt

a catless supercharger runs quite happy, still it s pretty hard on the engine when it reaches almost 1bar of boost with spring temperatures

I also run ACN91.

With zero wastegate duty, I can't hit 1 bar....

i d run too 95 Ron with how much boost, like less then 0.5 at redline? maybe less, if you still have catted front pipe i d bet it doesnt even creep at redline
and your boost is capped and surely you have overboost fuel cut set
And you are aware of iy
My concern was with the guy hitting 1Bar of boost (even more in winter) with stock internals and he doesn t even know that

luckily for him he only runs e83 though
