Random thought that was confirmed by the interwebs: the dacia duster is the best car in the world right now.

This is pretty common in the South, particularly with restaurants, many open only for breakfast and lunch, or only for dinner.

What used to be my favorite pizza place for lunch had limited lunch hours pre-COVID (open only on Th-Sn for lunch). Once COVID hit they cancelled their lunch hours and changed to being consistent with their M-W schedule of opening at 5PM and closing at 4AM! To be fair, it is located near a University.

Nope, 12am is midnight. The moment of transition from 11:59:59.999... to 12:00:00 is the change of day. So 12:00am is the first minute of the morning. 00:00 is a more sensible way to write it.

Amazing the angst over people providing services so you can be lazy, but at hours you find inconvenient...

We have several Mexican places nearby that close at 2pm. I wonder how they pay the rent not serving dinner?

I appreciate the offer. Unfortunately I had some unexpected business I had to tend to that took way too much of the trip. I'll be back in September. Let's make a point of hooking up then.

But I want it nowwwwwwwwwwww.

Honestly I don't go to that place often because I don't want to weigh 300lbs. My dad and uncle were friends with the owner before he passed away a few months ago. They would have coffee there once a week with a group of their friends, even when the place was closed they would plug a coffee pot into the outlet on the front porch of the place.

While that's one way to look at it, I tend to be pickier about where I eat out and usually try to consistently support local family owned places. So if it's disappointing it's because for whatever reason, I'd like to grab a meal out and I end up needing to go someplace else that always has business over maybe some hole in the wall with friendly people who remember me and my orders but aren't guaranteed to always have the business.

It is exactly because it is a small family owned business that they have odd or reduced hours. If they started hiring a pile of people to work around the clock to meet everybody's schedules then it would cease to be a small family owned business and the very reason you wanted to go there would disappear.

Ahhh so unless somebody works the same hours you do they must be unemployed, independently wealthy, chronic absentees or just plain not a "working stiff" like you.

Got it!

The wife and I don't eat out much anymore. Too dang expensive on my fixed income! However, after selling her motorcycle Tuesday afternoon she decided to take me out. I suggested a proper sit down restaurant with a big menu rather than one of the chains.
We decided on a local restaurant that we’ve not been too since changing ownership. It used to be a Chinese place but now it’s called a steak house. Funny thing is, all the menu items shown in the widows made it look like a Tex/Mex mix with some standard fair thrown in. We didn’t know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. Everything was freshly made in house and delicious. It did take some time but was well worth the wait. The wife had the souvlaki tacos and I had the fish-n-chips. Although the two fish portions looked small it was just about the right amount for me. Far too may fries meant that some came home. For such wonderful food it was disappointing to see that we were the only customers during what should have been the supper rush. Not sure of their hours but on Tuesday they were open until 8:00 p.m.
I’m going to make it a point to eat there more often and try and drum up some business for them. I’d hate to see the food quality go down or this place close due to lack of customers.
