Right on. My 2003 is still going strong, closing in on 400k miles. My pops just picked up a brand new 2022 Sport. It's good for what it is.

The 98 had 275K on the original powertrain (engine/trans/diff) and was still running fine, a bit tired/slow but always started and got me where I was going.

I wonder if it'll get the twin-turbo V6. That would be sick in a TRD Pro with 6MT

Im gonna guess that because the Tacoma is the "small" truck its going to get the Twin Turbo 2.4 as the highest option

That motor seems to be the successor to the 2GR V6.

However I'd like to think theres a possibility that the new twin turbo 2.4 Hybrid (from the Toyota crown and the RX500h) might find its way there.

I believe it's also succeeding the 8AR in some of the Lexus models as well.
I would be fine with the 2.4; it seems to have plenty more torque than the current Tacoma's V6.

2 thoughts just came to mind

1) Toyota's recent new naming structure for their engines M20A, T24A, V35A
2) T24 swapped 86 anyone? V35A swap?

I've been wanting to get a new 2022 Tacoma but seen some articles about issues with the suspension and automatic transmission. Thinking of just buying one used if the issues are with the newer models. have you had any issues with your 18?

Here's one of the articles. https://lemonlawexperts.com/not-all-...you-go-places/

Doesn't say anything about the Tacomas released before 2020, thinking a 2018 or 2019 could be my best bet. Definitely want a toyota truck.

I've had 1 issue, 3 recalls so far.

1) There was a recall on the brake reservoir. I had it fixed early on and have had no issues.
2) There was a recall on the radar sensor for the cruse control. It was definitely malfunctioning during rain situations. It'd deactivate the cruse control after incorrectly determining that I was about to hit a car or fixed object. I had it repaired and have not seen the error again (although it has not rained in So. Cal. at all really after the recall was completed, so the fix is TBD)
3) The radiator was seeping coolant through the end caps. I was able to get it covered under warranty, and the new radiator has not shown the same issue.
4) There was a recall on the in-tank fuel pump. I was not experiencing any issues before the recall was completed, and I have not experienced any issue since.

Overall, I'm pleased with the truck. It's very nice compared to the 98 4cyl xcab SR5 that I had.

Bob

I agree. My 3.4 seems tired but I can't find myself to pay so damn much for another truck. My dad's 22' Sport was 38k but after purchasing the tech package, rust proofing, film protection, and other little misc, it came out to 46k.

I'm going to run my 03' to the ground. I just spent 2k in suspension and maintenance before I left for Florida. I love this truck too much lol
