Hit a Skunk ! O! M! G!
.
On my way home I saw a dead animal on the middle of the street. The street was too narrow and I was not able to avoid it. I tried not to run over it with my wheels; however, my car was too low and I think I made contact with my front bumper or under panel. I smelt the odor immediately. It smelt like a mix of dead animal and burnt rubber, or grilling a piece of 10-year old pork. That was the odor from hell and I got a feeling of vertigo. The first thing that went through my mind was something burnt under my hood. Then I realized that dead animal might got stuck under my car. So I parked at a parking lot to check but I found nothing. I could smell that ordor from both outside and inside. It was really strong near exhaust and wheels. I went back to check that whether the animal was still there in order to make sure that I did not pick it up under my car. Then I saw it...a skunk! O! M! G! I can still smell that right now. Every time when I stopped my car the odor just went out from the vent. Can anyone describe that odor? I just wanna make sure that its not something else..not something burnt under my hood. And I might be the first FR-S owner who made contact with a skunk. Am I? .

I've hit one and the smell is so strong that it is a different smell. Like burnt but worse. I hit one before high school and everyone could smell it on me as soon as I walked in

ALWAYS check for the white stripe before you try to make a pancake out of a road kill .... Too bad about your car. You may have to submerge it in tomato juice for at least 48 hours. Even after that ..... you will never know when the smell will return. Maybe late some night, when you have a hot date and pull over to see if it's your lucky night and turn the heater up and your date ..... goes ewwww ..... WHAT is that smell ...... and throws up .... humfrz |

Try to find a can of Ozium Air Sanitizer. Don't know if it will work on skunk odor but it's the best stuff I've ever used to kill odors with.

They release the smell even when dead. Its going to be about 2-3 days before the stink goes away. vents and windows down.
