But you would lose a lot of strength with no doors. I have actually seen video proof of the TRD latch braces making a difference in structural flex. This would be irrelevant with a cage though and can probably save enough weight to negate the added weight of the cage.

How much does an APR GT-250 67" wing weigh?

I finally got around to weighing my wing. Well... most of it anyway.

It was made-to-order, so it took a few weeks to arrive. So when it finally did, I was too excited not to immediately install it. I thought I could just bolt it on, stare at it, and drive it around for a bit, then just unbolt it real fast, weigh it, then throw it back on. NOPE.

It was a way harder installation than I thought it would be. If it wasn't for @userjack6880's very slender fingers, it probably wouldn't have happened in a single day. So... because of that, I don't want to take the mounting pads off to weigh them.

This really breaks my balls, having been so meticulous with weighing every little thing so far, but, SHIT. So, minus the two carbon fiber bases, the gaskets, and the hardware:

An APR GT-250 67" wing weighs 14.3lbs.

The stalks are still attached in this photo, you just can't see them because they're hanging down underneath the wing.

BTW, keep up the good work with the build.
It was built from the ground up (rather than being stripped down) with weight savings in mind and TRD also have the luxury of not really having a budget.

The Griffon is quite literally a bare bones GT-86 chassis, engine, wheels and F1 levels of Carbon Fiber for pretty much everything else. Hell the engine parts were replaced with titanium and aluminum bits. To put it into perspective, the windshield is polycarbonate rather than glass..... thats how OCD these guys got with killing weight.

Bare in mind, they could still get lighter if they really wanted to use the entire wallet with things like CF Wheels, 2nd Gen Silicon-Carbide Rotors, Carbon suspension, gutting ALL the interior etc..

I'd imagine they could get it to the 1000kg mark if they really needed to

They could also go to a carbon fiber monocock although that would defeat the purpose and would probably be poorly engineered since the material reacts so differently.

Lol it would definitely defeat the purpose of using a pre-existing 86 chassis, and yeah working with CF monocoque is a completely different ballpark

I mean if Lamborghini can get a fire breathing v10 4WD Gallardo down to 999kg (I.e the Sesto Elemento which still doesn't use a CF Monocoque). I'd hope TRD (who's damn near financed by Toyota) shouldn't have trouble getting a physically similar dimensioned GT86 with a 4 banger engine and no heavy ass 4WD down to the same weight

1000kg is just a tad over 2,200lbs. If Anthony is really at 2,400, that is totally possible without much work. They are just 100lbs obese according to the article I checked. It still has a full dash and center console as well as the factory intake (which is well designed so I can understand keeping it in trade for the slight weight). Some extra weight is there from the wheels though which I am sure are heavy since they are "18×9.5″ +40 Volk TE37SL wheels; 250/640R18 Advan Racing slick tires." That is a lot of tire compared to a sport 245/40R17 on 17X8s like some people are running (myself included).

I keep not weighing my car because I'm forever, "well let me just do this one more mod, then I'll weigh it."
