I actually had both...still have the Fluidampr in mine. Had Raceseng, Grimmspeed and Perrin. The gains from it are just in your head..."yeah, revs faster bro".
Fluidampr that I have now, has actually made the car really smooth!

Could very well be. But to be honest I have noticed a difference in how the car behaves when I changed the stuff over.
Either or, I know it helps with the longevity of it...so I am happy is there

I fitted a Perrin LWCP years ago.
I thought maybe, am I kidding myself? for the first 18 seconds of having it fitted it might have made a difference.















But I'm not sure.

kind of guessed that. It is weird, in my Yaris you could feel the difference immediately. In the brz it is harder to see if there is anything. Oh well. They must need to make them out of titanium or carbon fiber.

According to the actual science behind it.
"the damper is used to reduce and if at all possible eliminate the vibration and harmonic energy created by the firing pulses of the engine. Without a balancer or damper, the harmonic forces that the crankshaft is seeing would quickly damage the bearings in the short block of an engine."

and plenty of data showing benefits of having the damper left in (in stock or aftermarket form).

That paper was an interesting read but it makes lot of generalisations; there is no analysis of individual engines. That is, some engine configurations are more susceptible to nasty harmonics than others. Given how many aftermarket lwcp have been fitted to 86/BRZ/FRS without failure it would seem that the difference between oem and aftermarket isn't huge.


And I'm not quite sure what I getting at when I quoted you because, as I mentioned, I was somewhat intoxicated when I posted.

Well, depends on how high the revs go on regular basis on said cars. I think that if there was no need to have a harmonic balance on the pulley, Toyota would've not put one in.
