Expensive, but probably the best optics available for our platform.

It'd be cool if one of the aftermarket parts houses would do a controlled comparison between the different options. Take one headlight each, strap them all to a bench and hook them up to 12V, and take detailed pics of the light patterns with all of them on (at the same time so WB and exposure don't change between shots).

I'd love to see the relative intensity, cutoff, and most importantly the hotspot pattern on a whole lineup (Stock Halogen, Stock HID/LED, VLAND halogen, VLAND HID, OLM, MORIMOTO, etc.)

@FT-86 SpeedFactory maybe? Got some time to kill for a new video for the community?

Not at all.

This is running a 6500k bulb. I since have changed to a 5500k, but I doubt there is much difference between my output and the OEM setup.

Here are some bad pictures (iPhone 6). These headlights allow for better output than many OEM HID headlights.

What do you do with the ballast? I have my D2H HID kit with ballast and am still waiting for the VLAND housing to arrive. Doing the install myself and am not sure where people attach the ballasts. Do people just use double side tape? screw it into the side? just leave it hanging?
Was looking around my engine bay and there doesn't seem to be many flat surfaces large enough to attach it to besides on my driver side with that plastic electrical box

I usually tape them to the underside of the headlight housing if there is room. If not I've seen them mounted anywhere near the headlight that doesn't really get wet. the 3M automotive mounting tape works well, but screws are easier to remove.

I have pictures on my build page. I double sided taped them and screwed them into the spot on the headlights where the OEM headlights mount them. The ignitors are mounted there too.

The relay I mounted vertically as instructed to a hole I drilled by the fuse box and mounted with a rivet.

That’s usually my favorite spot for them.

Separate ignitors are still a thing?

They are for the Morimoto TRS kit.

Which one of these two would you recommend?

https://www.vland-official.com/produ...-12v-55w-6000k

https://www.diodedynamics.com/d2h-hi...rsion-kit.html

Or is there another kit you think works best? Looking for a kit that comes with everything I need and bulbs would be preferred, but I can also get my own. Only have the Vland headlights installed so far.

Thanks!

Some people find the cheap ones just as good as the expensive ones. It is really up to you. I bought a Morimoto kit from theretrofitsource.
