ok so what do we know
1)they are at a race track testing 2)they look like theyve been through hell 3)they are supras after all(cmon if they werent supras no one would care) so with all this info we have we can say that toyota is testing a new sports/performance car easy as that conclusion: ITS A GOOD THING! even if this wasnt for the ft-86 they STILL are doing sport/performance testing this can mean only good things people! |

haha
they all had same shoes (i call my rim+tire shoes.. yeah i am weird) ok so.. lets think outside the box.. what could they really be testing (if this is indeed toyota testing something) well the body panels could jsut be that, pannels on a different chassis.. i mean all the cars have full roll cages.. what if they arent just roll cages but proper spaceframe chassis that have same torsional and bending stiffness as another chassis they are developing? that would mean that they can fine tune the suspension to the other chassis without it even being complete, no? there could also be a full different chassis under those body panells just masked under it being hidden and tested.. what about a new drive train setup? perhaps a high performance hybrid setup is being tested for further development?? im just fishing here guys, i, by which i mean all of us, know as much as the speed hunter.. lets get the snowball effect going here

Those body panels are lined up way to good to just be thrown on another chassis.
I wish the poster would have put what the motor sounded like. |

like 4 inches longer??? EDIT dixie, perhaps it doesnt have to be a differnt chassis at all.. what i was getting at last night (by my time) was that it was a mule for the HS (seeing how GFC is over) but i had a look see now after 8 hours sleep and WTF the difference between the supra and fths is miniscule one diference being 10cm in wheelbase..

And they had a ton of data logging and/or telemetry equipment in them. They were up to some serious business.

man u have keen eyes.. i cant see the suspension or the linkages anywhere to see the caster angle (but then i am about 0% familiar with supras except that they have "2JZ no shit.." )
also i just had a thought.. u know how recently there were those rumors about production being postponed till 2013 and the car possibly being a hybrid... well WHAT IF those rumors were part true. the 2013 and hybrid part any way, but rather than the ft86 being postponed its the fths being developed.. i mean those stories had have to have come from somewhere.. and these mules have to serve some sort of purpose.. i cant tell the longer wheelbase just by looking at it matador, but if u say so i beleive u i mean why not.. seing how the diffrence in the wheelbase of the concept fths and mkiv supra is 4" (fths being longer) this is all looking plausible to me
