Man that sucks, strange how far he was in the middle if he planned to go right. I wish the best for the repair to come out nice

The other car is angled to the right, I dont know why you'd would think he would turn left or go straight. More over it looks like you are really squeezing in there, most cars would barely fit next to him much less try to squeeze by. All the signs were there man, just saying.

Thats because most people are looking in the direction of on coming traffic since thats where the danger is. I dont think he expected another car to try and sneak past him.

Agree I would never have pulled in beside him.
But...
You are always supposed to ensure at you are clear in ALL directions (even behind you) before you move a vehicle. Celica probably should not have been where he was but he would have been obvious if the driver had at least glanced in that direction. The danger can be anyplace and focusing on only one direction is what causes accidents such as this.
Doubt there are stats but I would guess that the first words said at many (most?) accidents are "I didn't even see them". This should actually read "I didn't even look there".

Yeah I was dumb in the squeezing beside. I sometimes get into a "if I fits I sits" mentality with these tiny cars. Not very smart. My only gripe, albeit a very minor one, with the other driver is I was about 1/4th of a car length in front of him so perhaps peripheral vision should've caught it. Especially if he was already angled to the right.

Oh well. Mistakes were made by both of us. I'm surprised the insurance didn't slap me with at least 25%. But I won't complain. My guess is because the driver wasn't insured for the vehicle, they'd have a weak position and didn't want to fight it.

I think I'm going to remove the video though. I don't mind seeing my ugly mug, but I feel bad putting his face on the internet. Doesn't seem fair to him.

I think we should make Tcoat pay for the damages since he doesn't seem to be able to tell a Hyundai from a Celica.

I see that his screen name is Celica00, which has two zeros. But I thought you were referring to the other car, not the OP.

So, I won't hold it against you if you don't hold it against me.

Actually, being the Canadian you are, you should be apologizing to me and asking for my forgiveness. Don't they have a class for that up there?

It is OK S2GT you obviously never noticed I abbreviate any name over 5 or 6 characters.

Nope no class.

Nice, Renault or a Ford heart?

BTW, I note that you have a taste for European stuff.. lived in Europe or you're just a weird Canadian with a taste for the unusual?

I ran a Caterham, loved it but it did attract a lot of attention from certain types.. lots of geeks "Geeking" out..

Mine was a 1974 Big Valve twin cam "Europa Special". Although it had the emblem it didn't have the 5 speed. When I bought it it had the four that was actually quicker than my friends JPS Special which did have the extra gear. I think the gearing was better in mine but it used a lot of fuel for a little four cylinder.

OK, so maybe I had a heavier than average right foot.
As for my taste in cars I'm very open however, I grew up on British TV shows and movies. Furthermore. I was born into a piston head family. My father had been a motorcycle and automobile mechanic who later switched to auto electrics. He race motorcycles and followed the air races and car racing. He was a share holder (not common stock) in the original Mosport Limited company that built the track in Ontario. (Now known as Canadian Tire Mortorsports Parks.)
My older brothers were hot rodders in the fifties. But they both got hooked on British cars. One had a string of Jowett Javelins while the other started with a MG TC and moved up through a string of MG midgets. However, by the mid sixties their incomes had increased and they both turned to owning Corvettes.
