step 1 = make it legal
step 2 = pass emissions
step 3 = make it illegal after passing emissions because rebellion.
step 4 = repeat if it needs legality.

The power gain is not worth the legal headache. I would just go back to legal configuration and get a CARB certified FI kit.

Seeing what CARB did to gas cans I can't imagine how bad they would fuck up an FI kit.

It's pretty easy to reflash back to a CARB tune when smog time comes. Rest of the time run whatever tune you want. The sticker is still there
