"The 2020 Nissan 370Z starts with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $30,090. Add the $895 destination charge and that makes $30,985 for the base coupe with the manual transmission. Sport trim is priced from $34,715; Sport Touring comes in at $40,385; the 2020 370Z Nismo begins at $46,685."
the Q60 starts at $41k.

Still on a 19 year old platform.
If they think they are just going to reskin something and make it a big seller they deserve to go bankrupt.

Besides the performance trim is pushing $60K so the "starts at" is misleading.

Toyota is also using decade old platforms as well.

$57k, but its still the same VR30 as the 300hp model. i bet the "new" Z will also have less tech and your typical crappy Nissan quality interior.

Again, the 300hp version of the same engine that is in the 400hp version starts in the mid $36.4k for the Infiniti Q50. Strip the features and quality from the body and interior, and it isn't hard to see that the 400Z wouldn't jump up in price too much.

And their interiors don't seem that bad. Here is the Altima and Maxima compared to the current Z.

What I am saying is that if they want to turn it into a new halo car and sell any at all they are going to have to up the game. Your point of the crappy old interior is exactly what they can't do. Same applies if they just slap some new body panels on an ancient platform. To do any real improvements and not just facelift what exists they are going to have to fork out some cash. If they fork out enough cash to make it something truly new it is not going to be under $40K. The fact that there are other cars in that price range doesn't mean anything
IF they are going to do it justice. If they do cut enough corners to keep it under that mark they will be crucified by the press and the public.
They are almost in a no win situation with this. Keep the cost down it will just be "another face lift". Do the job properly it will be "too expensive". People want all the bells and whistles but they don't want to pay for them.
The same applies to the next gen 86 (if it comes out at all) since if they do everything people want to it the price will go way up and then everybody will scream it is way to much money.

I disagree. It’s simpler, which is what a new Z would likely be, but it is dated and requires a fresh and modern look.

Looks cheap. (which is what Nissans are really cheap junk lol) I like their sports cars and stuff like I'm not saying the Skyline isn't amazing but their production cars are like the lowest end stuff you can find. Might as well be made in China.

They’ve done it again. Nissan’s familiar VQ series engine has been included in the latest ‘10 Best Engines’ list by Ward’s, making it the 14th straight year a VQ series engine has earned that distinction. This also makes it the only engine to be included in the list every year since the award began back in 1995.
The CD009 is one of the most robust transmissions that is the go to for many swaps.

Apple products are made in China, so what is your point? Funny calling the Nissan's cheap on a 86 forum.

The 370Z makes our interior feel like a 911.

To clarify I didn't mean the Z is cheap... when I said production cars I meant the everyday altimas and stuff even though the Z is technically a production car. As a pilot we fly all over the place but we never have a car when we land unless it's home base so we have to rent cars all the time. I'm always like please not a Nissan... If it was a Silvia or something that would be fine but it never is. I'll take a dang little Corrola anyday. Even the little Chevy Spark I got I would take over a base model Nissan. When it comes to the cheap cars the Nissans are like the cheapest of the cheap. Just an opinion and nothing against their sports cars.

The twins were meant to be affordable. The new Z to me sounds like it is targeting the Zupra price range. Though if you could get a new Z with a turbo 6 for the price of the Supra with a turbo 4. That would be a pretty sweet deal if it's a decent car.
