Emissions - MD
I'm fairly certain that none of us have had to go get emissions tested in MD yet, as these cars are too new. As you may have seen in other threads, I want a Borla UEL and factory header-back. With a tune, any CEL would be eliminated, so that part I'm not worried about with regards to emissions testing. The visual inspection, in my experience is hit and miss. Some stations do it regularly, some don't. The factory skid plate under the engine - can this be reused with an aftermarket header? I'm thinking that if it can, this will hide the cat-less header. Thoughts?

They're pretty lazy with the mirrors. They do it for posterity so it looks like they're doing their job at the VEIP stations.

Maryland is pretty lazy with it. i had a supercharged tC as my last car with a dc sports header and full exhaust with no cats on it and they never said anything about it. They seem to care more about if your CEL is on or not

Agree on laziness.
My previous A4 had pretty much straight pipe and they never bothered anything about it. Just plug in OBD port and it's good to go. |

Awesome. I have never emissions tested without cats, so I'm curious what other people have experienced. Well, take that back. Since 2006 I haven't had a car with cats at the time of emissions testing if that makes sense. I had catted longtubes on my 2006 GTO, but SLP makes some craptastic cats and they rotted out within a few thousand miles. A quick spirited drive blew that crap out the tailpipes. But it still looked like cats were there. My last car, a 2010 TDI was straight-piped from the turbo back (made 300wtq with stage 2 tune, I miss all that tq!), but luckily MD doesn't test diesel passenger vehicles.
