Size: 299.5 KBSeat belt buckles...yay or nay? I just sat them on. If I do use them, I'll try to glue them on at an angle like the one on the right (LH seat).

Edit: well, decided to go for it.

Nice Tomcat! I built this one (1/48 Tamiya) more than 30 years ago!

Some more slow WIP pics of the R33 and R34 (accidentally burned through some parts of the R34 hood, so I have to repaint it):

Small update for the R34 interior. I had to stray away from factory Bride color combinations because the original red gradient looked like garbage with the flat red seats. Can barely see the "Bride" and looked like gift wrap tape.

How the original set up looked like. I suppose it would have worked if I clear coated the entire seat with flat clear (which I don't have).

Sorry. Don't know why the forum is making my vertical pics horizontal when posting.

Beautiful work!
I do very very little car work because I don't like messing with the high gloss paints. Those look perfect though.

Thanks! I think planes and tanks would be harder because I can't get flat paints to dry evenly (maybe if it was sprayed on, it's different). Plus, for older planes and tanks, camouflaged paint jobs look extremely hard. haha. I'm sure you can easily do cars with your skills!

The nice part of the flats is that I beat everything up anyway. Using brush paints gives a chance to add textures and simulate wear.

My current project is a good example of brush paints. The main part of the fuselage and wings will be airbrushed and then beat up though.

That radial engine looks great! Did you hand draw each of those lines in between the heat sinks (sorry if those aren't heat sinks, I don't know much about radial engines). I can see what you were referring to about adding texture with what I think are the exhaust pipes!

The cockpit details are nice too. See, with all of the stuff you do to make your planes look even more realistic, I'm really sure you can do cars.

The lines between the cooling fins are created by using a mix of Future acrylic floor finish and black acrylic paint. Since the floor coating is self leveling it flows down into the low spots and tints them darker. I use it like a wash for highlighting on everything.
