Hiya guys, I'm the proud owner of a new-to-me 2013 FR-S. I primarily made this account bc I got the valve spring recall work done and it's been 5k miles of no problems so I wanted to add my data point to whatever megathread y'all have

Speaking of which, if one of y'all could kindly point me towards that thread I'd much appreciate it

Hey all,

Long time car enthusiast. Big fan of lightweight driver focused (manual) cars over the years. Used to track an Elise, but now enjoy windy mountain drives more than the track (must be getting old). Bought a 2017 GTS to use as a daily a month or so ago. It’s good fun, I’ve already replaced the boot with a spoilerless one, and spent about 14 hours bringing the black paint up to scratch. Plans are really just to fit some nice wide wheels and decent coilovers.

This forum seems to be a wealth of information. Thanks for having us.

Another FR-S newb, coming from the Porsche world

Hello, I am new. I just bought a highly modded 2013 FR-S with power and suspension mods. Bought it so my boys (16 and 19) can learn standard and we can have fun modding it further, as well as learn mechanical things (they build gaming PCS and are into gaming). Also the boys were not intersted in my 87 Porsche 911 when I had it. They now realize what they missed and begged me to get one again. I did make money selling my 911 (keeping it from year 20 to year 30) but to re-buy one was going to be impossible, prices are through the roof. My older son was into WRXs and STIs and we drove a few, but they were too scarry fast for me - and for him being 19 I got scarred. Then we stumbled almost by accident on the BRZ/FR-S. To me it has enough power (especially if modded) to give some oomph, but it shines in the handling. Now that I have had it for 6 days, I am beginning to think it may have more power, and handle better than my former 911 (shhhhhhh). Anyway this also seems to be a great community and great palce to learn.

if they enjoy building pc's and gaming, i would suggest looking into doing something with car audio with them. it's not extremely practical, but much of the wiring has many of the same attributes as pc building wire management, just on a much larger scale.

of course, the wire management parts of pc builds is one of my favorite parts, having to make it look pretty, as well as account for extra slack, and airflow...

Thanks, yep we already discovered a 1/2 installed led lighting kit under the passenger side footwell, and got that working. We are looking into headunits that have carplay (or wireless carplay). And the speakers in this car are way worse even than my Honda, so I am sure we will be getting to those too! And mechanically yesterday we took of the front bumper (so we could snap the grill back in) - that was a learning experience too, esp since we decided to crazy glue the grill in (not just snap it in), and we had to use my wife's nail polish remover to get all the extra crazy glue off that ran all over the bumper.

From another Porsche guy, welcome. Also, go get a 97-99 986. They're unfairly cheap and mostly unloved by the community, you can do plenty of wrench turning on them, and it's still very much a Porsche. You can probably still find some decent examples for less than $10k. Same power as the 86 (but more torque), similar weight, and even the same weight distribution, just flipped from front to rear. The only really big thing the 86 has over the Boxster for me is seats. The Boxster seats are like slabs compared to the buckets in the 86 cars. And for the Boxster over the 86, the sound of a Porsche flat six is what a boxer is supposed to sound like, period.

Having both around makes driving pretty fun.

Hello just joined a couple of days ago and did not see this thread. I posted in the FRS RS 2.0 registry thread. I recently picked up an RS 2.0 and love it remember when the first FRS was released and drooled over it happy to be apart of the family. I am from central Indiana and my cars number is #149. There are pic in the registry thread!

Hi All,

Picked up a 2013 Gray FRS off Cars and Bids. Coming from a 2019 Mini Cooper S with the JCW tune and exhaust. It is my dedicated track/autocross car as my daily is currently a 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4. I am having to split my FUNds between the truck and FRS but I hope to get a header and tune in the next month or so.... Once the headers are back in stock. Any recommendations are great!

Thanks!

What's up, everyone? Long time lurker, first time poster!

Traded in the ol' 2014 Corolla for my 2016 BRZ with decently low miles a couple months ago, and have been obsessed ever since.

Hello!
Been following this board for a few months, finaly ordered my gt86 this week. It's a 2017 fl model, dark blue, stock in all ways possible. Plan on modding it subtly (uel+remus, drop and wheels)

Also drive a 2005 HD Dyna Superglide Custom, and work on getting my 2005 Citroen C2 VTS back on the road with a bit more uph (newmann ph3 cams, 4-1 mani, CAI, 2,25" SSfull exhaust with remus)

Aye, I come from Croatia.
