Howdy, all. I'm Dave. New 86 owner. So new, I don't even have it yet. I think I found the very last 2020 86 in manual transmission in all of Washington and Oregon. Drove 5 hours each way to buy it last weekend. They are delivering it this week.

I've been scouring these forums, and it certainly is a wealth of info. I've already decided the first things I will do is add struts to the hood, a Fumoto oil drain valve, and move the 12VDC plug cap from the glove box to the sound tube hole. You monsters are already costing me money.

Well, back to lurking.

Exclamation Help

Hi, I'm a new account but have owned my frs for a couple of months. How do I create my own thread for help because I have a problem. 2 days ago I took my frs into Firestone to get my 2 rear tires replaced along with an alignment check. Before my alignment check, I was able to fly down this hill in between my divorced parent's houses at around 50 mph. Now, after my alignment check, whenever I go about 40 or anything over 35 my front wheels seem to lock up depending on which way I'm turning (left wheel locks when turning left). My traction control also flashes on my dashboard. Does anyone know what the deal is? I love going up and down this hill and have done it well over a thousand times as I have to go up and down it more than twice a day so I know it very well and how my car handles it. It's extremely fun to go up and down but when my traction control goes off it becomes very sketchy and I have to slow way down because it feels like one of my wheels just braked individually. This also occurs a little when I go up it at a high speed and make a turn. To be clear this only happens while turning, never while driving straight.

you only replaced 2 tires. the cars traction control system is seeing the higher rotating speed of the front tires vs. the lower rotating speed of the rear tires, and believes you are losing control.

replace all 4 tires, and it'll work again.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people mix the front Rocket Bunny v1 fenders with the side skirts + rear fenders of the Rallybacker v2.

I am a new user here. I will mainly be browsing but plan to lurk around the track section and forced induction area.

New here. I work part time as a mechanic at an independent shop, part time me and my wife own a used car lot. I buy from local dealer auctions, and from salvage auctions like IAAI and copart.

Anyway, I been wanting one of these cars since Clarkson drove one on Top Gear when they first came out.

Then the wife and I got to thinkin about autocross. Now I've owned Miatas and love them, but daily driving them sucks. I drove one on vacation from Arkansas to Florida as well, and they are just a little too small for that.

So I bought three FRS.

This one, a 2013 which had a hydro locked engine, though no water seems to have gotten into the cabin area. 98,000 miles

This one, Raven 2016 with the front a lil messed up. 109,000 miles

And a third, a 2013 I found on facebook marketplace that was sold as an abandon car from a towing company. Its totaled, no way to fix it, but it had most of the parts I needed to fix the other two. The 3rd happen to be Raven black like #2, and had a new clutch and tune up done at Toyota just 5,000 miles ago, so sweet deal. It has 96,000 miles.

Also, the red 2013 did not come with a key, even though it was supposed to. This isn't the first time its happened with IAAI, either. The last time was a 2009 Camry I bought to re-sell. I've been around the "no keys for a toyota" block before. The abandoned, totaled 2013 Raven car didn't either.

I now have them all 3 FRS working on one key until I get some in the mail, this forum was somewhat helpful in that regard but also had some misinformation. Was curious if I should do a writeup on how I made this work?

Yes, please. Up to date and proper info is always welcome.

Would make you Rookie of the Year around here. Promote ahead of contemporaries and whatnot.

Welcome, and have fun building a working car from your donors.

I am thinking of getting a V1 rally backer ten piece kit, and a rocket bunny front bumper. Is that a good idea? i already figured out my tires and wheel specs. I'm going to get 8 inch rims with 35 mil spacers and that should be good. but id like to get a front bumper on the car cause i feel like it wouldn't look good with a stock front bumper/splitter. the link to the kit is below btw

Cool New to the 86 World but not to Toyota.

Hello all,

I'm from Florida. I currently own a 2010 Lexus IS-F and a 2021 Lexus IS 350 Fsport. I'm looking to expand my Toyota/Lexus line up with a new GR86 in the near future. Its an exciting time to be a Toyota/Lexus Enthusiast! Looking forward to learning more about the car and to one day be involved in the 86 Enthusiast Community.
