Front suspension or steering rack noise?

I’ve read a post about the steering rack coming loose but no videos or other info can someone help me out. I can’t figure out what is making this noise.

Hi Speedy

Do you have coilovers installed on your car?

Back-in-the-day, I would guess that the worm gear on the steering rack needed to be tightened down or a ball joint on a steering arm was wore out or a wheel was loose.

Today, I have no idea, but if it were my car, I'd take it into a shop and have it looked at.

Big help ....... huh .....

My guess too, maybe the end links?

I'm thinking it's the end links, or link arms (same thing). that's probably rubbing against the body or are just creaking.

Hi there, I have the same issue..

What was the fix? Did you get it repaired or did you buy a new steering rack?

Do you have any pictures of the bad steering rack? I'm at 170k miles and have replaced the outer tie rods, but still have a weird clunking noise. Only happens at low speeds which I'm thinking was a symptom of yours as well.

Don’t rule out the EPS coupler. It creates a rattle/clunking at low speeds. Road reflectors at 10mph for example. I have a DIY thread on fixing this issue for ~$10. This issue seems more common in Russia, Philippines, MENA, etc where crappy roads are more common.

I’ve heard the EPS rattle on a couple threads and mine happens just turning the wheel at less than 5mph. I can drive on bumpy roads going straight and everything is silent.

Well, you can still check it. It's just a b#tch to loosen and lower.

Had the same issue. Also on bad condition roads there was a similar noise to suspension issues.
New steering rack and alignment fixed it

Did the new rack include the EPS unit? If so, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was only the coupler that was bad.
